    Lug Nuts Way Overtorqued (!)

Our Mercedes car came with an 8" long lugwrench. That is plenty to tighten them properly. I've had a buffoon at Discount Tire say that can't possibly achieve the proper torque for safety. I think HIS nuts are too tight...

    Wire harness identification

If it has front wires tagged 460 and 461 it has flasher circuits.

    Lug Nuts Way Overtorqued (!)

Why tire shops will stall out an 1,200 ft/lb air wrench on every nut always pisses me off. That much torque will dish out the rim holes, too. Untrained kids is what I've seen. All you need on a Budd nut is 300, so a poor mook can take off a flat on the road with hand tools.

Austin Champ B40 NOS engine startup

There was a time when I owned 4 Champs, one that ran. It had the usual broken ring gear (crown wheel in Brit English). The other 3 were essentially parts widows, but all of them had bad gears. One of them looked like it was dipped in a big tank of mixed species poop and water, then left to...

    Help ID Military Trailer M105?

The master cylinder on the M105 trailers is the same as that on the older Checker cars...

    Tire tube change questions

I'll try and get some pix of the simple stages of how to do it and post them in this thread in a few days. Youtube is full of how-to's, some by idiots, others meaning well but leave out a couple steps that make the whole process much easier. I've done my own lockring wheels for almost 60...

    Help ID Military Trailer M105?

That's why one mounts a receiver hitch unit flush in the driver's side of your 2.5/5T front bumper, and use one of those pintle adapters to push that trailer around so you can actually see where it is going. Park the thing, then pull the pintle out and store it onboard.

Rapco paint is no longer Gillespie?

If Montana made more shades of OD, it would be great. IMO, the best spray can paint ever.

    Dead deuce

Your truck is cursed. Find a mechanic that groks exorcisms.:devilish: Or jump it from a good set of batteries.

Overthinking things again - Grease - Wheel bearings

When one thinks about the environment of a tactical MV wheel bearing, remember they seldom see even 500 RPM. Definitely not a high speed operation. When you take into account the massive size of the rollers/race vs the loads upon them, a good long-fiber grease properly packed is more than...

    M37 battery box circuit breaker?

Those breakers were fairly standard across the tactical usages. 15A for #14 wire, 20A for #12 circuits. They can be found is both Douglas & Packard connection formats from most MV parts houses.

    M105 Value

I've seen several ball coupling failures in my short lifetime. All were expensive, glad they weren't mine. Never have I seen a pintle/lunette fail.

    M105 Value

Only a fool converts the lunette to a ball coupler.

    M37 battery box circuit breaker?

I've seen the one in the battery box used for the radio power outlet in the bed front wall. If I remember rightly, the two on the cowl bracket were for the horn and the dash-mounted outlet used with the corded trouble light found on the early models. Lighting circuits were protected by the...
