Camo paint hides many a thing! Are you doing a Navy gray color or just a Chevy Gray?
I hate to say that I'm painting it a color that I like, but it will be flattened, below. Base coat clear coat, but a flat clear. i'm actually happy to say, but i know that traditionalists wont like it. It will have black trim, bumpers, and grill, and will keep military stencils intact with two custom ones on the tailgate "M1009" and "6.2 DSL". I know, I know....but I think it's going to look cool. No, it won't have scissor doors or neon anything, but yes, it will have sound deadening and a rug. I'll post pics along the way as long as I don't get flamed too bad.

I hope you didn't think I was trying to flame you because I wasn't. You said gray so I thought that maybe you were doing some type of Navy thing. Not a problem on the color. If it was pink then I might give you a hard time, but hey that's a cool color also. :)

Yes please keep pictures posted.

No, it's all good... I'm just getting ready for some flamage but the guys on this site are a whole lot nicer (more mature?) than some of the posters I have seen on other car sites when things don't go according to "their" schedule. In my limited experience the steel soldiers guys are a whole lot more helpful. I am also aware that I am changing the nature of "the beast" so there will always be purists who are not psyched about that, whatever the vehicle.

My 1009 is all Navy Gray. When spring comes I am going to go a shade darked and add some black on her for an urban camo look.

Got it. My guy is doing a ton of work to the M1009, and I have attached 10 more photos. Final color is on the bottom of the door, which should cover the whole car tomorrow... I'll post more pics then!

Looking good! Can't wait to see the finished product. As far as color it's your CUCV do as you wish. If there were only a hundred produced yeah you might get hammered for it but there were plenty built and being preserved by/for the purists.
My bodywork is kinda like V8Astro said above,"looks like crap" .......that's why I'm camo'ing mine to hide my lack of reconstructive abilities.
Keep the pics coming!

I tried doing a bunch of bodywork when I was a kid...unsuccessfully. In my opinion mechanical work is much easier, a good body guy is like a type of artist!

Looks like the artist doing yours is pretty good! The color on the interior of the driver's door is the color you're going with? That's gonna look sharp! It's almost exactly the same color as my brother's Camaro although his has high gloss clear.

yup...TCP global restoration 2105. It's really hard to pick a color from a chip let alone a computer screen chip, so I hope it looks like I want it to...I'll find out tomorrow!
