Can't get my (heater) hose to stay in the hole

Got the circular cutout in the engine access panel for the heater intake air hose, and the hose just flops around, no way to attach it to the panel where the air should come in. Anyone found a solution to this problem? Just going to ducttape it for now, but I know the tape will just wear off and it will flop around some more....

If its what I think you are describing, it should have a metal housing that gets two bolts or screws to hold it in place, in shape of a 90* turn.

The engine access panel is smooth on the inside, no bracket or housing at all. Not even any screws into the metal, just a 3" wide hole, or thereabouts.

Guess I'll have to make something up.

I have noticed that some trucks on GL have the scoop below were most of them are, on the non movable panel. Seems like a good idea to me since my hose is old and not very flexible and collapses instead of bending when you close the panel. I was wondering if the same part would fit either place and if anyone has any pictures of the inside arrangement. If I was installing a heater I would put it in the new location.

the 14th pic in Opie's link is what I was talking about. It is a 90 with a valve in it that goes through the firewall.

No, gimp, the inside parts of the heater are fine. It's the heater air intake hose going to the side engine access panel that's the problem.

However, that link Opie provided gave me some ideas to fix the problem. Thanks to all!

I have the same setup as cranetruck, Came with my heater kit,Plus the scoop on the outside of the side panel, I think TJ Murry has a bunch of heater parts.

Was just wondering if any one has ever hooked up the intake to a port inside of the cab, I seems to me that it would make a big differance as far as the temp goes?
Any thoughts?

There is no need. The factory installed two doors that do the same thing. There is one on the driver's and passenger's side. Open them for fresh air.

I'm working up some defrost duct connections to a M151 heater.
Has anyone made the 2" and a 2.5" diverter box outlets "mate up" to a 3" duct?

I've looked at plumbing and dust collection system connections, but looks like i'm about to
be welding up some soup cans or something "crafty"...

Look at the turbo ducting on egay. There was lots of reducers when I was working on a duct project. Might even be a pvc solution in plumbing.

No dummy:roll:, he was talking about connecting the heater intake duct to pull from inside the cab, so it will recirculate heated air, and make the inside of the truck stay warmer.:burn:
