So this morning, the lovely delivery fairy dropped off my M1078.

iron planet let me down a bit and missed a few things in the description....

THE GOOD: starter does need work, as disclosed.
brand new tires all the way around the truck. spare even!
drained about 3 cups of rusty, nasty water. so gross

THE BAD: they didnt disclose the driver door handle was missing....
there is a large bash on the passangers side from someone hitting something
the windshield crack is not "damage" theres a dang bullseye crack and its cracked in all directions!
i am disputing with iron planet.

THE UNEXPECTED: free goodiesssss
truck jack
winch pully
tire inflation tool
BII triangles (x3) and tool roll
TROOP KIT but missing one frigging part. the passager side back of cab support. (ive circled the location where the post goes)

so heres my only question: where can i get the missing parts? ive checked fleabay, which has the door handle but not the missing back of cab troop support.

thanks!

thank you both. it is in great shape, the filters were changed just before i got it, per the hours written on the filters at least... took a oil sample and will be dropping it off at my local cat dealer tomorrow.

another thing that i just remembered, the driver alarm from the troop kit. where in the world does the wire for it plug into on the cab? also, anyone have a spare cable?

Crack or bullseye either way the windshield will need to be replaced. They come out easy. On a warm day you can use your foot to gently push a top corner to start it and it will push right out. I don't know about putting the new one in though. Usually the driver alarm cable is permanently installed it comes up under the air box. I don't know where it connects in the cab. Never tried it. I may have a good used starter. They are expensive for that truck it falls under cat parts which are all expensive.

Can you post a picture of the winch pulley (snatch block), mine is missing. The windshield is available from Red River Parts and Equipment. Otherwise, to get a winch truck, sometimes some other undesirable attributes come with it, but fixing those are no biggie. Congrats.

Tell your windshield guy this truck uses the windshield for a European Steyr medium/light cabover truck from the late 80's. None were ever imported to the US, so he may come up empty.

Congrats on your new truck!

I actually just pulled the driver alarm switch off my truck tonight. I'll be removing the bed shortly, so I likely don't need the cable. Let me take a look at how it connects in to the cab.

Actually, there have been a few Steyr imported into the US. I drove in a Steyr 12M18 from Oregon once. I liked the stick shift transmission. In many ways I liked it more than a M1078, but they are like $30k in surplus condition. I looked into it and it's basically impossible to register them in California, so I wan't really interested in trying to get one. For the price, you can't beet a M1078.

So! Sorry for the late response! I have the promised pics of the hook!
Thank you so much for posting pictures of the LMTV snatch block. As you can see, it is a Skookum model 62, part number 1918001. I was able to score one on ebay immediately.

Glad to help! Anything else you need from me?

So few updates on progress from today.

Reinstalled the handles, the red neck jury rigged drivers side handle works and works well!
Found a local shop that services larger vehicles and does safety inspections too. Missouri doesn't really care if the handles are factory original, as long as the door opens, they are happy.
Killed off a wasp nest that was starting in the bed. Its been here for 4 days and already wasps are trying to move in.......
Replaced all the pins missing from the troop kit, cleaned out the hardware store, whoops.

Good first few days of work I think.

looks like we will need a St. Louis LMTV fest soon! I can host about 10+ trucks at my house out in Wentzville.

I went to Kours truck in St. Charles for my inspection. Not much inspecting on medium duty trucks for the state $12 fee... Looked it over for about 15 minutes and said, yep, she is good for the road. I asked if they were going to take off a wheel & drum to inspect brakes and they laughed at me.
