I'm hoping that my shipper will come through but ?

I have a M1078 at Ft. Hood that needs to be taken off post and maybe stored for 14 days +-. Something funny at the post,it can only be picked up on Thursday at 8:00 AM.

Have not been told they will get it tomorrow.

Truck is a runner but the parking brakes are caged.

Was thinking if someone could get it off post it mite help for a pickup by the shipper.

This is a lot to ask but I didn't know what to do ?

Ideas ?

Thanks,Randy

P.S. Still hoping it gets picked up .

I'm in Corpus Christi, I can flat tow it back with my M1084, however it will cost a bunch in fuel.

Thank scottM
Driver got turned away at the gate by the MP's ? Still working to get it loaded today. Talked with Tim with GovP and he said if the driver can get through the gate by 3PM he will get it loaded .

Can a person have a CDL and outstanding warrants ? Guess the MP's can pull up the drivers records ? Or maybe the trucking company did not give him the release form I sent them ?

Just very pissed off !

This is part of the process to allow ANYONE to visit a military base now. They will run you, and conduct a background check. We had this happen a few years ago at Bragg when they instituted the system. had MULTIPLE contractors come through the pass office and get arrested by the MPs/DoD Police.

If your driver has outstanding warrant that has valid extradition from TX, a warrant from within TX, or a federal warrant, he's not going to make your pickup.

Would have figured a driver with a problem would get pulled at a weight station ?
Your DL is not read at weigh stations. Just chill, if this hauler strikes out there are plenty more. GP will cut you some slack what with the holidays and all. Trucks are all on the way home now, not looking for loads.

Thanks.
Was hopping I could find someone coming home to AZ . LOL

Still seams funny that they will check your load but not your licence.

The question would be why did he get turned away? Did he just try to go to the gate for pickup or did he stop first and get a pass at the Visitor station? They're not at the same location on Hood.

All posts became closed posts after 9/11. To varying degrees. These days, all installations require non-DoD personnel to get guest passes or be brought on base by DoD ID Card holders. This is why dependents are valuable delivery drivers around major installations.

GP has an 8 business day pickup timeframe.

Since they're only open for pickup one day per week, I interpret that to mean you have 8 weeks. At the point push came to shove in small claims court over late fees, or over breach of contract, I'm willing to bet high odds it would go in your favor.

Further, the above facts must be obvious to GP as well, so they'll accommodate your needs up front and avoid alienating you.

No worries. Your shipper will reschedule, pick up, and deliver. No additional fees for you.

I've had similar experiences with Ft Hood.

I was at Ft Hood picking up some trailers last week, Your truck is at the LZ Phantom lot. Long and short about getting on the lot and base is it takes time. If you are commercial shipper or look like it :) you can go straight to the Clark Rd. Commercial entrance with your Gov.Planet Item Release form but they still have to Vet you before they let you in the gate. For me last week it was 1 1/2 hours waiting in the truck (when I got there 8:00am there were 3 trucks in front of me). When I finally got though the gate there were 12 trucks behind me..... Next step is the LZ Phantom lot is just half a mile down the road from then entrance but you need to be escorted into the lot (even if the gate is open), So you or the Shipper has to call the GovPlanet Site manager, (Joe or Tim). Then from my experience the loading it pretty fast and everyone there is helpful. Keep your fingers crossed they maybe loading your truck and just haven't had a chance to call you yet. Also a FYI Joe runs several other lots (Pretty much all central to south Texas) and that is why they are only at each lot once a week. I know North Ft Hood (Gatesville) is Wednesday, and Ft Hood (LZ Phantom) is only Thursday.

Thanks Tornadogt !
That is what I have learned. Just wish the shipper new it !

Both Joe and Tim have been a big help.

Maybe next week it will go better ?

I will pass along what you sent to the shipper so they know.

Just to add, once I was "Veted" they gave me a 3-month pass. Next time just a quick stop show them the pass and my ID and I will be back on my way...

GP has been very accommodating I've had some trucks sit for a few months it is however greatly dependent on the site manager so keep these guys high on your Christmas card list.

An off site location could have degraded security, too. There are advantages to having 'won' items stored behind tight security.
