Looking for interrupt switch

Need an ac circuit interrupt switch for my memo-803a 10000 watt diesel generator

When you lift the switch UP and hold it up does the green contactor light illuminate?
Does it then go out when you release the switch?

These switch's seldom go bad so I'd suspect the issue with the contactor not closing is due to something else.

If you find the problem IS the switch then....

A potential replacement candidate for the 8906K4519 S5 Interruptor switch is a Honeywell 2TL1-70. They are about $39.
The contact operation of the 2TL1-70 is slightly different than the 8906K4519 so some wires would go to different terminals.
I haven't tried it but it looks like it should work.

To use the 2TL1-70 the terminal mapping would be..
The diode would remain on terminals 2 & 5.

Does not go on at all but if I push it in to test the light goes on

Do you have a hand held meter available to do DC voltage measurements?

If you do have a meter you'll want to connect the meters negative lead to chassis ground and the positive lead to S5-5.
Start the generator.
1) You should measure ~24 volts DC there. Do you get that reading?
2) Then lift and hold S5 UP. The voltage at S5-5 should now be ~ 0 volts DC. Do you get that reading?

Yeah, I know this has nothing to do with the problem (Couldn't help myself)
- but everytime I see that title -
The need to FIND the political interrupt switch gets more and more powerful.

Nope the light stays out no matter that I do it will go on if I push it in to test it only

The procedure for checking the contractor is in the -24 manual. Its very easy. If you need help, say something.

This may sound like a odd solution but, it sounds like your K1 is hanging up internally.
If you have already measured things per the TM using a meter, that means you have the top cover off and K1 exposed.
Go in there and tap sharply on K1 with a rubber mallet or something a few times, than fire up the machine and try the circuit interrupt switch again.
I can't count how many I have fixed this way.... and a few others here have done it successfully as well.

If it works you may want to consider opening up the contactor to see if there is come corrosion or something in there causing it to stick.
It's a very simple magnetic solenoid and the mechanical motion of the solenoid pulling down activates an internal switch which illuminates the panel light.

You probably aren't going to find a shop who will touch one of these sets, simply because they are not commercially available, so no tech would have been trained on them. You are your own mechanic with these machines.

Im in Connecticut, I dont travel but I do have parts.
What contactor do you have in this set, (brand), Contact Industries, or Ametek?
You probably dont have a bad switch you have a bad contactor.
Ametek is known for this issue.
I have several Contact Industries contactors.

Rubber mallet does clear it up. Proper disassembly and cleaning is best... but Ive gotten more than a few to work with a small nudge of the rubber mallet. Your mileage may vary.
