I believe all wreckers have front winches. I may be wrong, but I can't remember seeing one without a winch.

Even though you'll find it in some older TM's, the 900 series tractor wrecker (M933) is a mythical beast that wasn't actually produced.

I updated the list with commonality of the vehicles, related to how often they are seen. The last one I'm not sure, I pulled the designation off the "M" list, but I have no idea what it is. I also am missing the designation for the HEMTT wrecker.

gimpy - I know, some call them wrecker-cranes, but once again, I pulled the above info from the "M" list, and I used keyword search to find anything with "wrecker" in it.

The HEMMT wrecker is the M984. There might be an M984A1 and M984A2 or something...but the M984 is the base wrecker.

And there's the M246 tractor wrecker. The M108, that Gimpy says isn't really a wrecker, was available wo/w (or at least has an NSN for that). Now as far as the cool factor Gimp was referring to, that has yet to be determined. He's a commoner and Stretch and I are rare, and we shouldn't forget members M108 and Rizzo who are owners of this little prize.

I was already a cool guy, M108 just makes me a really cool guy!

And the data plate says crane on the M108, but I'm sure it will get some wrecker duties at some point.

as a side note, the 108 was built as a bomb handling truck, but found use as a light wrecker, so a military mind with a higher pay grade then myself came up with the m60 with the thought that it would make a GREAT light to medium wrecker, only after production which was a gasser did the great mind realize that the 2 1/2t m60 was to light to do recovery work except very light vehicles, it had a VERY HARD time even with other deuces, so the end of the m60
