I have a 12 volt pump that I got from Tractor Supply that will lift fuel.

If you had several feet of hard PVC pipe sections with threaded ends that you could carry with you it would solve the problem of a hose collapsing when sucking fuel out of an in ground tank.

Putting a strainer on the last piece keeps chunkys from being sucked into the pump.

Another idea would be to have a portable genny with you and to splice into the stations switch box (after disconnecting it from the grid). You could then pump the fuel out normally. Depending on how the pumps are wired you might be able to energize just the one pump you need.

For research purposes only  I have made mental notes about all the stations in my area and how the fuel tanks are accessed. Several of them have above ground kerosene tanks which, as we all know, will work in a multi-fuel just fine with the addition of a little WMO.

On one of them (a real 500 gallon honey pot) the cap has a lock on it but the whole cap can be removed with a large pipe wrench since it is threaded onto the pipe that is threaded to the tank itself. Somebody did not put a lot of thought into the security of that design.

Since I plan to shelter in place I have several hundred gallons of waste fuel stored in totes.

Getting caught out on the road without fuel would suck.

There's more than one way to skin a cat....there's just no way to make him like it.rofl

Oh it'll work. That is until the guys with mo-hawks and spiked leather gloves surround you on the freeway with their modified Detroit hod rods & bust through your Deuce's window trying to get the last box of Cracker Jax left on planet Earth away from you.

When TSHTF I think something a little faster & more fuel efficient than a Deuce will be required.

I know. I saw it in a movie.

I would obtain a new in tank pump for a TBI chevy

COnnect a long hose securely and also your electrical connection. Drop in tank of your choice and pump to your hearts conent.

That particular model pump is durable, simple and dirt cheap, even new. I am considering designing a replacement for the intank pump for a deuce using two of these in series electriically wyed together at the liquid output to the deuce fuel system. It would pump at least a gallon a minute with two of them.

Hey Coldwarrior,

I Think Josh was right on target. In the scenario you spoke of, you will not be wanting to be standing around waiting for fuel to load into you truck in slow motion. You will want to get it and back out drawing as little attention as you can. The military Fuel Transfer Pumps are just the ticket. They plug right into the side of your Deuce (24 volt) and will fill you up right now (35 GPM). They will pull fuel up from an under ground tank no sweet. They are light weight and easy to transport and handle. You will have to keep an eye out on GL, but they are there, and they are worth the effort. Picked five up from Ft. Carson some time back, four had not ever been used. The cost was around the three hundred dollar range. Each of my friends now have one in their Deuce for any needed calling. GOOD INVESTMENT. I believe in having fuel, I can carry up to 180 Gal in the Deuce and up to 50 Gal more in the trailer. With no fuel, all you have is a cool looking ornament.

24 Volt diaphram operated transfer pumps will run off the truck and move anything from gear oil to gasoline.

The gear pumps at TSC say they are only rated for gasoline and diesel. They say no oil!

The SBC oil pump thing works fine but is slow. Blocking off the relief valve as they suggest raises the psi so much that oil will blow the hose out of your hand and burn up your drill/ motor that is powering the thing. I don't know how I know that one.

The hand operated rotary pumps TSC and such place have will move a lot of fluid pretty fast. Just don't put a filter on there or nothing will flow.

here are a few pics of a pump i biult from a power steering pump for transfering WMO. It draws oil very well and pumps it quite fast. I used it to move diesel a couple of times and it is impresive. Cheap and easy to biuld
