What a rude awakening. My procedure...
1. Let truck sit for 15 minutes to let the filters drain out.
2. Drain the rear plug first.
3. Drain the front plug.
4. Remove the front liquid locked filter cartridge and make a big mess on the driveway.
5. Repeat step 4 and double the mess.
6. Hollar at the wife for another roll of Bounty paper towels..
7. Spend 15 minutes wiping up as much of the mess as possible while the oil pan is still dripping.
8. Install new rubber gaskets and cartridge filters.
9. Re-install oil pan plugs.
10. Proceed to dump 6 gallons of oil into the engine (It showed a little above the full mark, so I assume this is safe). I mean what is the harm of a couple extra quarts..
11. Start truck and nearly panicked when it seemed like an eternity for the oil pressure to register. Finally got pressure after about 40 seconds...
12. Check for leaks - OK!
13. Backed up the truck so I could spend the next 1/2 hour degreasing my driveway.
14. Spent the next hour listening to my wife gripe about the mess, and how expensive the oil change was and how the deuce was a waste of money, blah, blah, blah.....
Does this sound like an average experience?
