"Stupid is as Stupid does"

Just walk away. Don't even mention it if anyone ask you about it. You might be in the frying pan and not even know it.
Condo associations are not friendly and they always win over in matters like this if you go out of your way to make them angry. If you avoid conflict, it may quietly go away. If you get noisy, your arse is grass, and they are the lawnmower.

Make peace with the neighbors, tell them your working on it slowly and it will look better eventually. Dont start stuff....

But i dont see how anyone can truly complain, besides color and age i don't see how its any different than a big suburban

Stop and think for a minute....

Weather you care to acknowledge it or not, there's a certain responsibility that goes with owning a MV and what it represents.

When most people see one of our vehicles they aren't sure if it's active military or not. So how you conduct yourself in that vehicle, indirectly reflects back on our military personel.

Those that may be aware it's in the hands of a private owner will see your actions and associate them with all private owners and collectors.

So my advice is to 'man up', stay the high ground and "let the sleeping dog lay".

You may do more harm than good to allot of innocent folks that take owning and collecting HMV's seriously and have no dog in your fight.

They think my M1009 looks dumpy, compared to their vehicles.
Who in the **** are they to judge you? Keep it street legal and enjoy driving what YOU want to drive. Make it look the way YOU want it to look. If someone says something to you pull the same cards out of the deck as anyone else. Be offended and file a complaint with your HOA. If something is said more then once you are being harassed and treat is as such. You have rights too.

Sell it and buy a 98-02 dodge diesel. My neighbors inform me the engine is MUCH louder than my 1009 or deuce, and thats at an idle ! [thumbzup]
I have a 2001 dodge and I wake the guys up at work when I get to the fire station. There beds shake until I turn it off.

:ditto:

I'm not saying don't fight if it comes down to it but do it the legal way.

Everybody needs to remember they represent all MV owners in a sense. How you behave with your MV reflects on the rest of us.

They think my M1009 looks dumpy, compared to their vehicles. I have a 2009 truck and a 2008 solstice....so if I wanted to I could be driving those instead of my blazer. I LOVE MY K5!!!! I have been working on making it run better than it has by fixing the little issues and eventually I will paint it but there is some body work needing to be done...which I have since started working on. So in the meantime, as a gesture to all my geriatric a$$h@l3 neighbors in my condo complex I want to make my diesel exhaust so loud it becomes offensive! Any suggestions on how to make this happen?
Who woulda thunk it........... Condos in Alyeska...... :?

didn't see mention of any hoa's so.......... I'd just roll the old eyes and go on my way...... cause you never know when one of us geriatric types might smack you with our walker

Stay on the high road. Don't stoop to causing trouble. Fix it up and make sure it is running as best it can. Maybe you can find a better muffler to help it run quieter. If they don't like camo, you could paint it solid 383 green or tan. Then it's not camo, it's just painted green or tan. Nothing is wrong with liking flat paint instead of gloss. By doing the right thing you take the carpet out from under them.

Trust me on this, I had the exact same problem with my old neighbors and my civvy C20. They though it was too loud, and ugly and illegal. They called the police about every time I came home. Police would come out, look, listen, and them the neighbors to STFU. I have been there and yes you want so bad to do mean and nasty things, like burnouts in the street, horn test at 0200, among other things, and yes they did all this to me, but don't. Just stay legal, be nice, and go on about your life. Now I had some crazy a$$ neighbors, and had to be escorted by someone, mostly my parents, everywhere I went. They carried guns, and had anger issues. Though it does not seem like this is your problem, though if you royally piss them off, it could be.

Coming from a young buck, stay cool, stay legal, and just ignore them, when they see its not bothering you, they will pick on someone else.

Now if you do end up moving, like we had too, complete other issues there, leave at 0400 in Christmas morning, at wide open throttle, music blaring, horn going, yelling vulgar things, with fingers flying. ONLY IF YOU MOVE THOUGH, out of state far far away. I have a feeling I woke everyone up, but they did not hear anything of nature they could use against me, and will never see them again. But I digress....

I have to agree with some of the others. I own a HMMWV and where I live there is a lot of the "green activists" there who I worked with who used to harp on me all the time about how I was wasting fuel and killing the environment. Then we had a massive snow storm and they were all stuck and couldn't get to work and when I went and pulled them out from the snow I never heard anything about it again.

P.S. I found out I got better fuel miliage then most of them did.

Might as well let this one die. The OP did not get the answers or support that he was looking for and has not returned. I was on the other side of the fence for two long years, I had the loud, obnoxious neighbors that partied all night and went out of their way to antagonize me. Believe me, it is not a happy life to live that way. Keep that in mind guys.
