I know some of you are kicking around buying one of these 931/932/936's coming up, so I thought I would tell you how things went for me. My last GL purchase of a 931A2 at Polk was a disaster in every way, so I was especially gun-shy about another fiasco. I will have to say this time I came out smelling like a rose. The videos that GL are posting tell the story. I picked one that was advertised to run and stop, because I knew I needed to be able to have a trucker drive it on a step deck trailer ("Buyer Load"). Next I looked carefully for signs of a rebuild. GL has mentioned this in a few listings, but not all by any means. In the videos, you will see "CARC 200X" on the dashboard, this indicates that the truck was overhauled around that date. Lastly, the sealed bid amount. I knew the scrappers were placing blanket bids of roughly $2200 on the tractors, so I would have to exceed that to score. I bid right over $3000 and was successful. MS Tax and GL fees put me at $3500. Next, the haul. It is a 500 mile recovery for me, so driving it home was not an option. My trusted transportation broker, Walker, (truckingdeals@yahoo.com) was able to get me a $1.50 a mile rate. The trucker showed, the RSMS boys slaved my truck off, and he was able to load up using Shelby's loading ramp. The next morning he was waiting to be unloaded here at my yard. In a nutshell, this truck is the nicest, best operating unit I have ever seen come from DRMO. You guys need to jump in and save these from the scrappers!!!

First off, Congratulations!

Technically, all this means is that the truck was repainted at that time. I've seen lots of trucks with "paint rebuilds" that weren't actually overhauled, so don't base it soley on the CARC date...

Nice Score, The M900's are nice but like a CUCV when compared to a Deuce, something you'd like to have but really have no use for.

those are nice looking trucks.. just dont have a big enough use for a tractor to replace my new like 818:driver:
Tim,

Speaking from personal experience, sell the M818 and buy an M931. These trucks are exponentially better then the M818's (I have 4 M818's and 3 M931's). They drive better, they're quieter in the cab, the transmission is GREAT, and overall are better trucks.

Oh, and nearly all of them have new, or like new, Goodyear 11.00x20 radial tires!

Now, on the serious note, someone alert that Kansas Guy, they're talking about auction trucks again at the never to be mentioned site that noone here knows about. Read the rules all! This should be fine, it's a "previous auction" and "you'd have to guess" when "Camp Shelby" will let another group of 50 or more trucks go in the same week, they've only got a few hundred to get rid of.

Ive seen it. I dont have a problem with it. I've recently been trying to back off if they dont "flat-out" break the rule.

With that said, posts like yours piss me off and do break the rules.

Jeff,
After our last little spout, I just wanted to raise your eyebrows a little. I've got no problem with you, just pushing buttons a little:driver:

Thanks guys, lets keep this friendly. These trucks getting cut up is just criminal.

About the windshield, the RSMS boys cannibalized that at some point. But I have a NOS one waiting to go on.

I wonder if someone could get ahold of the scrappers. Those tires alone are worth big $$$$. I really want a set to put on my XM818.

Hoping to go for one of the M936's out there, so this is a help. Thanks, and great looking truck!
