Added some fluid and got the dump cylinder to move. The system could likely use a flush and seals but that's last on the list right now.

Looks like I need this part. Does anyone have one for sale :)

I removed and cleaned the turbo. It started right up and I was able to move it. Next, I'll pressure wash it and make a plan to tackle the brakes and axles to see what kind of shape they are in. Pick up an Ebay accessory :)

It must be one of those organic hippy air filters. I'm glad the seller started it and drove it on the truck.

Does anyone with a multifuel 5-ton have a picture of how the original air cleaner should work? Looking at the TM, the filter should not be open on both ends (assuming). I ordered the part number in the TM, and the filter I received is open on both ends and is short. Maybe I'm missing a part...

After looking at the TM, I should have a nylon line with a compression fitting. I ordered some fuel-rated lines and new OE-style fittings. I should be able to get the fuel filter replaced and the oil changed tomorrow. Then, back to waiting on parts. The truck builds air pressure but does...

Today's projects Fixed the fuel shutoff; the plunger was bent so it would not slide within the nut, and the handle in the cab was missing. I installed a set of oil filter adaptors to accept spin-on-style filters. This seems like a significant improvement. Identified the fuel leak in the line...

Yep, I'm aware. Mine is missing the levers in the cab, so I am looking to see how they were initially run to the pump.

    264Charlie's M51A2

Well, I flushed the primary tank and put in two new batteries, and the truck fired right up; the downside was that it had a fuel leak in the engine compartment, spraying fuel everywhere in a fine mist. At this point, I figured out that the truck did not have a primary or emergency engine stop...

    264Charlie's M51A2

100% a lacquer overhaul with bad stenciling. After much thought, I have a path forward. While it will be more expensive than I initially estimated, I am confident that the result will be something useful that I'm proud to own. When done, it's going to be a 25k—45k truck. I'm not sure I'd ever...

I would be out tucking, so I would be better off parting it. I'll know more as I dive in next week.

They sprayed paint over everything without removing large clumps of dirt or anything. It will get a good cleaning and move into the shop this weekend for a deeper inspection to decide a path forward.

I just got home and took a look at the M51. Well... the "All wheel drive. Starts, runs, drives and dumps well. This truck is ready to go" is a drastic over-exaggeration of reality. 50/50 If I'll part it out or get it going.

Well, the truck is home. Next week, I will uncover its condition and outline the project list. My neighbor unloaded it for me as I will be out of town for a few days. It was about 4k to my door, about $1,500 more than I planned, but my schedule did not allow me to pick it up.
