I daily drove my M1008 for about 2 months this summer highway and city driving and was averaging 16-17mpg running stock tires. I was happy since my old '74 k20 gasser was getting 10mpg when I used to have it.

Mine was hard to start if it sat for a day. It turned out to be a small crack in the rubber fuel line from the tank right after it meets the passenger side frame rail and heads towards the fuel pump. Now it starts as quick or quicker than a new truck.

Mine has become my daily driver to work for about a month now since I have the wifes car in pieces in the garage. It been running great getting 16-17mpg 22miles each way.

I agree, when I got mine it was one belt short and the gen 2 battery was shot and the gen 1 battery was in poor shape from having to do the starting practically on it's own...it also explained why the PO drove it to meet me, instead of going to his place...filed that under lessons learned.

What about a Wix 33033? It's 20 micron in line metal can filter and around $6, seems like a good choice to use and have a spare in the glove box if your worried about a clog.

Why not get a Group 31 sized battery for around $100? I picked one up at a battery shop in Frederick with 950 CCA for just under $100 a couple weeks ago.
