    C7 Blow By

Mine smokes a good bit out of the breather on cold starts if it has been sitting for a while. Not nearly as noticeable during warmer weather and if it is driven more frequently.

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

Nice, still a decent deal for a C7 truck when all is said and done. It is interesting that the Hawaii truck has a diesel heater installed on the box but no A/C.

Thoughts on removing coil springs on A1R

Contemplating doing this also, @aw113sgte and @GeneralDisorder are you guys still happy with the coil spring removal? Do you notice any significant increase in body roll? Any reason at all to preserve the springs and remove them in one piece? I'm adding a few hundred pounds to the cab, but it...

I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

Finally got the correct fuel hose installed. The hose shop tried to tell me that 5/16" ID hose is the same as 3/8" ID hose because they both use a JIC 6 fitting, so I had to educate them a bit before they would make me a new one. While I had the cab up I also replaced the passenger side...

I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

Shop's error, I handed them the original hose and asked for an identical one. Original is 3/8" hose with 3/8" JIC 6 fittings, so I'm not sure why they made me one with 5/16" hose with the 3/8" fittings. I'll take it back tomorrow and ask for one with the correct 3/8" hose.

Just had a new fuel line made and I didn’t notice until I got home that the hose shop used 5/16” ID nylon hose instead of 3/8”. Should I have them remake me a 3/8” hose, or will 5/16” suffice? With the 370 hp tune I don’t want to run into fuel starvation issues due to fuel line restrictions.

    Air Flow CFM?

That hose is attached to the air cleaner underneath a set of venturis that spin out large dust particles, and the other end is attached to a venturi in the exhaust pipe that creates suction. It basically vacuums out the large dust particles from the air filter and purges them out the exhaust.

    ECO DIRECT DRIVE HUBS

Any updates on the new products? I'm planning to rebuild my wheels this summer and I'm eagerly awaiting the wheel half centering aid since that is likely a source of vibration at speed.

Its a cheap T4 size one off Amazon, well see how it holds up: T4 Turbo Blanket Thanks! I ordered one. The bottom of mine had some cracks and might be letting unfiltered air in. I just took it for a spin around the neighborhood last night to make sure everything was hooked up right, some time...

I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

The weather here is finally nice enough to get some outdoor projects done on the truck. I started small and installed a turbo blanket to help keep a bit more heat and noise out of the cab: Then I tackled installing an uprated ECM from @GeneralDisorder with the 370hp tune. Wasn't complicated...

    Little Bear Build

Nice, what did you use to draw that up? If it were me, I'd put a lift bed in the living area and chop 4-5 feet off the back bedroom area. You could still do a short garage/storage area behind the rear axles but your departure angle would vastly improve.

    Subframe question

I experienced ~40mph crosswinds when I drove across South Dakota and Montana last summer and I was amazed at how solid my M1079 was. Probably a combination of the weight and stiff suspension, but my truck didn't rock and I had no problems keeping in my lane through the gusts.

    Gen 2 A/C install questions

Waterloo Specialties normally sells everything you need, but the evaporators have been few and far between, and condensers have been vaporware for a while now. https://lmtvtrucks.com/AC/index.html

Just won an auction - M1088A1

The diagnostics cover should just push in and unscrew. The red switch is a battery disconnect that kills power to the truck.

A lot of us use AW-32 hydraulic fluid from the auto parts store. The o-rings on my cab latch disintegrated soon after I got my truck and spewed clear fluid everywhere, so the original red fluid was replaced at some point. I replaced the o-rings and refilled with AW-32 and haven't had any issues.
