I scored a couple 57K4845-007 annual service kits for a very reasonable price (NSN # 2590-01-603-9368 ). The seller said that they were for A1P2 trucks, so I'm familiar with most of the parts in the kit and they are applicable to my C7 truck, but there are 2 small mystery filters that I have not...
Speaking of reprogramming the TCM, does anyone know what it would take to be able to check the transmission fluid level using the keypad? Per the Allison manuals, it looks like this is a common way that many RVs with this transmission check their fluid level. Do the mil spec transmissions need...
Took a few road trips and now have around 1000 miles with the 370 hp tune and it definitely wakes the truck up a bit. Much improved acceleration around town, and it maintains speed better up mountain passes, although it is still obviously no speed demon. Realistically I'm now maintaining ~50...
I've been running that combo for ~7000 miles now and have been fairly happy with it. I only drove my truck maybe 5 miles with the original tires and hubs so I can tell you my experience with the Ecohubs/14.00R20s, but don't have a good basis for a comparison with the stock tire size.
With the...
Agree with the others above, I would not plan on driving any significant distance unless you have the tools and time to thoroughly go through and refurbish critical parts of the truck. I drove mine home but only after spending about a week going through the truck and replacing tires, fluids...
Mine smokes a good bit out of the breather on cold starts if it has been sitting for a while. Not nearly as noticeable during warmer weather and if it is driven more frequently.
Nice, still a decent deal for a C7 truck when all is said and done. It is interesting that the Hawaii truck has a diesel heater installed on the box but no A/C.
Contemplating doing this also, @aw113sgte and @GeneralDisorder are you guys still happy with the coil spring removal? Do you notice any significant increase in body roll? Any reason at all to preserve the springs and remove them in one piece? I'm adding a few hundred pounds to the cab, but it...
Finally got the correct fuel hose installed. The hose shop tried to tell me that 5/16" ID hose is the same as 3/8" ID hose because they both use a JIC 6 fitting, so I had to educate them a bit before they would make me a new one.
While I had the cab up I also replaced the passenger side...
Shop's error, I handed them the original hose and asked for an identical one. Original is 3/8" hose with 3/8" JIC 6 fittings, so I'm not sure why they made me one with 5/16" hose with the 3/8" fittings. I'll take it back tomorrow and ask for one with the correct 3/8" hose.
Just had a new fuel line made and I didn’t notice until I got home that the hose shop used 5/16” ID nylon hose instead of 3/8”. Should I have them remake me a 3/8” hose, or will 5/16” suffice? With the 370 hp tune I don’t want to run into fuel starvation issues due to fuel line restrictions.
That hose is attached to the air cleaner underneath a set of venturis that spin out large dust particles, and the other end is attached to a venturi in the exhaust pipe that creates suction. It basically vacuums out the large dust particles from the air filter and purges them out the exhaust.
