I use a 1/8" steel rod to check the tanks. I goes down in the tank ok.

. Yes. Left is the drivers side, Right is the passenger side. In other words - left and right is from the drivers seat.

On my trucks the short end is the tank it's on. The long end is the handle to turn it. But yours may be put on wrong.
