    Brett09's M1008 build thread

Once I had an idea how I wanted it to look I started to modify the original dash bezel. With as much as I would have had to cut away and as old as the plastic is I didn't want to run into issues with the fiberglass coming apart. So I ordered a ABS blank and went from there. I grafted the hideous...

    Brett09's M1008 build thread

After a lot of ordering and waiting this project is finally getting some place. The long term goal is to have a truck I can do anything with. Use it for work or just take a road less traveled. I started to take out the old heater to install a vintage air ac unit. I figured why redo 90%...

Cool project. What rims are those on the truck?

M1009 - Stripping it down to "bedline" the entire truck, inside and out

I like bedliner as paint. I'm currently waiting for my DIY raptor liner kits to come in for the same reasons. You didn't mention the product though. Make sure it has some kind of UV protection in it. You wouldn't want that nice coating to chalk. Also the texture in the finish is another thing to...

    SM465 swap in M1009

I put a NV4500 in my M1008. I love it. I have the 5.9l cummins in my truck so it apples to oranges as far as a power comparison. With the SM465 you could drop just over 100 RMPs at 65 assuming you still have stock tires. You signature says you have a lift in the works so I assume you might want...

    Brett09's M1008 build thread

Got some of the many boxes in for this go around of the project. Still waiting for the dash speakers, antenna and another amp to show up. Still have to sell the old engine ect. to order a few more things. I'm hoping to get started before the 1st but you know how that can go.

    Holy Turbocharger Meltdown!!!

Glad to hear you are back on the road. How did the #1 cycl walls look when you had the heads off? Also a block heater wouldn't a bad idea. Help it get to driving temp faster.

Cold Weather starting of an M1008 - Any helpful advice ?

Test the batteries and make sure they are up to snuff, do the general maintenance and go from there. Try doing a search on things like "cold weather" "hard start" and see what others have run into. If it still has an issue starting look into the injectors or injection pump.

Improve fuel efficiency in my M1009

My 2cents. I've always tried to drive around peak torque and not lug the engine. Engine compression is one area I'd look into. Lowered compression can effect the burn. Injection pump is another. If the pump isn't giving the full pressure is can effect the spray pattern on the injector...

    Brett09's M1008 build thread

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure this had appeal to people. As far as the total cost involved I stopped counting to be honest. I'd imagine one could be done for pretty cheap if you got the right truck to pull the parts out and resold or recycled every last thing you could. Its the extras...

    Brett09's M1008 build thread

Having an issue getting them off of my phone. Here are some of them. I moved the fuel lines to the drivers side. I spoke to soon the rest showed up. After bleeding the lines the engine fired up, after sitting for 3 years that I know of, without any hesitation. I replaced the front and rear...

    Brett09's M1008 build thread

Well I finally found my lost cell phone that had all the pics to finish this part of the build part of my build thread. Wouldn't you know it was the last place I left it....well kind of.

    Heater core leaking

Why not aluminum? It has a great heat exchange and as long as you're keeping up on your service it will give you decades of use. I always like to learn something new so I ask alot of questions, sorry.
