Hi Pawel,
I added a post to this thread showing some hull shots. Yes the tunnel is at an angle to the hull. Please note that the tunnel is a sheet metal construction to shield the driveshaft to the front axle, and is not visible from the exterior underside of the vehicle. From underneath on...
From the Green Room (the archives of the late Jim Green's estate), here are some hull photos of Jim's V-100 during restoration. Note that the hull in the rear axle area was modified to accept an air locker axle. You can see in the first photo of the engine compartment (before sandblasting)...
Hi George, the side of the hull is .250 inch. Floor of the hull is .375 inch
Somewhere in the V-100 forum here on Steelsoldiers, there is a digitized version of the Cadillac Gage parts manual. It was in a thread somewhere, you’ll have to do a search for it. The factory part number for the parts...
This is a video done of my V – 100 by John at East Coast Armory. He did a 1:6 scale V-100 vehicle. If you go to his Facebook page, he has about 400 photographs there that he took of my vehicle. He also has done the same thing for an E2 (open-top Air Force version of the V – 100).
below are some...
Sounds like you do it up right. I limit people getting inside to avoid liability and limit wear and tear on the vehicles, I’m the entire cleaning crew and getting all the greasy handprints off the outside is not fun.
I’m just not into running it like an amusement park ride, loading/unloading...
Nice tires, six of them, NOS. Helping clean out the estate of the late Jim Green. I think Jim was going to use these for a "super-single" project, but they'd be great for a V-100 as well. Need to take all 6, so I've priced them accordingly. If you find a better price on NOS Mohawk run-flats...
Well I’m pending approval for being able to bring two V-100’s to the 50th anniversary commemoration of the end of the Vietnam war, to be held on the lawn on the National Mall in DC on May 11-13. Will have to bring friends with me to help me pull night guard duty for the vehicles. Normally I’d...
Sorry to veer off-topic, but can someone direct me to a definitive guide to M34 axlees? My V-100 armored car apparently uses M34 axles (19-spline axle shafts and Detroit lockers front and rear). I'm trying to find out if the V axles were standard M34 axles or if they were heavily-modified...
A local merchant 20 mins from my house has one out front. Every time I take my V-100 out around here, someone will inevitably tell me there is one just like mine on Rt. 309! All armored cars look alike I guess.
The owner is a great guy, has done sand blasting jobs for me and does nice work...
It’s a Fram FA-230 PLHD can mounted inside the hull. Picture of commercial one attached and also an OEM one.
~11.5” Diam and 11-12” tall. If I can’t get the correct part, the Donaldson one mentioned earlier is the closest.
I've been on the hunt for a V-100 air cleaner housing for 2 years now, nothing has turned up, not even a commercial Fram equivalent. If you know where one is for sale, please let me know. In the meantime, it looks like Donaldson makes a disposable unit that would be a decent substitute. It's...
