931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

I am still poking at my truck when time allows, and tried again this weekend while family was home and they could crank while I looked into the IP. If I tap on the side of the IP while the engine is cranking, do you think I could posibly get the joblocking to break free that your talking about...

I'd like to check these out, Can I get to the delivery valve rod and stop magnet some how?

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

Found out tonight when I removed the big plug, and having my son crank that the inturnals in the IP are turning. I'll look up the thread you referenced to check the governor spring. I also re checked the shut off shaft and it's rotating normal.

Not the same engine but I have a Iveco in one of our farm tractors that is like this, the IP is keyed but the gear it slides onto isn't.

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

Yep, tried putting my foot down while cranking. Also disconected the all the lines on the top of the IP and no fuel coming out. The lift pump is pumping fuel but from what your saying if it's not enough preasure it might not be enough to get it to fire up?

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

Mine has a wire over the top of that big plug your talking about, I'll take a look and give that a try tomorrow if it's not raining or snowing. Not trying to get ahead of myself, but if it did slip on the shaft it'll have to be timed. Are there marks on the shaft and gear? If it did slip or I...

Thanks everyone for the input. Unless there is something internal that is stuck I think my next step is to take the IP off and replace it.

    Best for thinning WMO

I was worried I was driving off the gas runing it through. Most of my oil sits for months, sometimes a year or two. IF I do add gas ahead of time it's only because I got some oil that already has gas in it, like from a shop that dumped it in with their wmo.

Are you guys adding the gas or diesel before or after you centerfuge? I've done both and seems that when the gas is added before you can smell it during the process, and I've wondered if it's just vaporizing.

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

I did disconect the rubber return line before trying the vise grip to pinch it off. Pumping by hand I did get fuel to flow past it.

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

Yep, that is something I didn't do. I just tried it and still no fuel coming out of the injector lines on top of the pump.

Accessory gear is working, front tires turn.

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

Yep, the top of the lever rotates twards the front of the engine, oposite direction of emergency shut off wire. And the shaft has splines on it and are rotating with the lever. My lever is not plastic and is metal. I'll check and see if the steering wheel turns while cranking, that's a good...

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

It retracts when I turn the starter switch. I can only see it from the cab that it it retracting, but thought maybe it wasn't retracting all the way, so I did wire it back. No fuel comes out of any of the lines.

931 with 8.3 no start, no fuel out of injector pump

Went to start my 931 with the 8.3 two weeks ago and didn't want to start, figured it lost prime. Had it running last on the 4th of July. Went through all the procedures for priming. It has fuel coming out the banjo fuel return and also the priming screw on the engine side of the pump. No air...
