VA Fall Classic in Newport News VA

I'd be down to attend if we can get a good group together. It'd be nice to meet up with the locals!

    M939 Series Hood Insulation

Well that's disappointing. I fully recognize that you won't be able to turn the thing into a silent hybrid, but I had hoped that it would at least make a noticeable reduction in the noise level.

    M939 Series Hood Insulation

You're probably right. I'm probably a little too paranoid about it. Still, snap some pics of your install, and I'd be very interested in your sound readings. My neighbors have complained a lot less since I sold my M35A2 with the whistler for my 923, but I'm sure that proper sound deadening...

    M939 Series Hood Insulation

Let us know how it works out for you. I looked over that stuff (and a few others) but I shied away from it because of the relatively low temperature rating. A0/A1 engines operate at 175-195*, and A2's at 190-200*. The link you posted rates that insulation at 225*. I'm concerned that engine...

My first Deuce! 1967 AMG M35A2

Nice looking truck bonedoc! I think you'll really be happy with those electric wipers. I tried and tried to get the air wipers in my deuce to work and never could get them going smoothly.

Deuce or Bobbed Deuce as a Farm Truck?

Your run-of-the-mill Deuce is rated to handle 2.5 tons in an offroad envinronment (hence the name Deuce and a Half), and roughly twice that on road. You'll find threads where guys push those limits well beyond the rated capacities. I can't speak to the capacity of a bobbed Deuce, but I can...

Deuce or Bobbed Deuce as a Farm Truck?

I'll echo Jeepsinker...don't bob it. It'll be much more rugged and useful to you as a farm truck if you leave it a 6x6. Plus, a bob will cut into your hauling capacity. You can still add winches and dump beds without a bob-job. Personally, I would aim for a late 60's-early 70's M35a2 with a...

Pieces of metal from my first oil change in my Deuce :( need help to idendify ??

The 4 bits or so in the upper right appear to be C clips or similar. They are more flat and C shaped than the other pieces. Either way, metal in your oil is never a good thing!

Finally going to buy my first M35A2 Deuce!

Hope its not to late, but pick yourself up a good set of hearing protection. I prefer the 3M Worktunes headset, so I can pipe a little music into it. Your ears will thank you, and the music will help make the trip a little more enjoyable.

How much grease should I buy?

It'll depend on when they were last greased. I went through about a tube and a half on my first round, trying to make sure that I had forced out all the old grease and replaced it with new. I used much less on subsequent greasings.

4" Electric Exhaust Dump on M925A2

Cool! You'll probably want to go ahead and gather your sound recording equipment. I know I'll want to hear a before and after!

    Need to find cheap Deuce

There's currently a Deuce for sale on craigslist near me thats listed at $2.2k, but it is stripped and riddled with rust from saltwater and spray. Its missing its bed and doors, and the tires are dry rotting. Seller says it runs, but I'm sure it hasn't been serviced in anyone's recent memory...
