Well, I called this morning to arrange the inspection and test drive and it was sold. A guy got it for $15,000 with a 5kw generator and (2) M1082 trailers. I knew I should have turned around and gone home and got my checkbook! If you snooze you loose in this game!
I do want to thank everyone...
OK, I just got back into cell service and got caught up on your posts. I’m on my way home now and will stop tomorrow morning to do a thorough inspection and drive it. Questions: 1. Where is the “oil line of death” located? To the Turbo? 2. Which is the proper alignment of the drive shaft yokes...
I’m in Alaska so I’ve fixed many a vehicle on the side of the road in the gravel and dirt. I always have a tarp and piece of cardboard with me if possible.
I am on a camping trip and stumbled across a 1998 M1078 less than 100 mile from my home. It looks like it’s never been touched. Has new Goodyear tires at 95+tread and a new spare. All the bed bows and new tarp. Has the troop heater in the back. Body is straight. No rust. Holds air and has a...
XCRV, did your M1079 sell? the link above didn't work. Do you have info on the vehicle posted somewhere I can look at? I'm in Alaska but looking for a M1079.
Ya, I was thinking maybe the cabover camper idea would suffice to hold me over while I did a box buildout and then remove the camper and then install the box habitat.
Anyone have the interior dimensions of the M1079 box?
Thanks ckouba, thats what I was looking for. Sorry I wasn't more clear on my question, my bad. After doing the math it does look like the Cabover camper idea is a no go and too high. Looks like I'll be looking for a M1079 and doing a Habitat buildout.
Does anyone have a video or link to a video from the side of the vehicle of raising the cab on a M1078 or M1079. with the cab hinge point so far forward I'm interested in the geometry of raising the cab.
I'm pretty sure if I remove the bed from the vehicle and build my own sub frame I can...
the camper isn't on wheels. I was going to build a "Rack out of angle iron and design it with fork pockets so I could load and remove with a loader with forks. I was going to design the rack to the correct hight for the trucks cab to clear when tilted but sounds like it would be way to high. I...
