For future refrence, adding an inch of shock length does not equal an inch of lift in my case. It measures exactly the same. so something else must be limiting the downward flex of the wheel. Maybe the sway bar? I think Im done chasing this rabbit. On to the next task.
you know of any longer "Shocks"? I was looking at Cepek but wanted to try a cheaper option first, And yes thats why I wanted to weld at the top of the shock. And I would try to keep it cool as to not melt the bushing out of it!
I am getting very good at rebuilding the front suspension as I have tried a number of combinations of parts to get my M998 to look level. Currently running 2" body lift, 2" lift coil spacers, and uncut armada springs in the front but the shock is limiting how far the front wheel will extended...
There is a steal on some new 44" pitbulls nearby. I have been looking for 42" or 43" but nothing has come up. These 44s look brand new and like I said the price is right. My truck has 4" total lift (2" suspension and 2" Body lift) you guys think it would fit 44x19.50-16 tires?
I have opened the top cover up more than I dare mention, everything seems fine. Solenoids are working, armatures move easily.... And no worries on the shop, Ill call around. I just thought I remembered somone menmtion a shop they liked in Austin.
Replaced lift pump and its blasting diesel now. Still nothing out of theinjection pump. Anyone know a decent injection pump rebuilder? I thought @Mogman mentioned one in Austin before but I cant find it.
Making slow progress, I discovered the fuel shut off solenoid in the top of the IP was binding up and not engaging. Now I can hear/feel it actuating when the key is switched on. Now, Im not getting any fuel to the IP.... My question is: with all my attempts to turn it over basically dead heading...
Not yet. I took the IJ out a second time, cleaned it again, reassembled again, and reinstalled it yestarady. Still nothing out of the injector lines, but I might need to bleed out my lines again. I did get the number of a veteran Hmmwv mechanic in the area so thats the next stop before sending...
weights seem to be moving freely, very little resistance to turning the shaft. It wouldn't freespin but would require a few ounces of pressure to get moving.
Im going to open up the inspection window and make sure I didnt snap another advance pin. While Im at it all check the weights.
I have a solid flow of diesel leaving the seperator/filter at the flare fitting going into the injection pump. Still nothing at the open injector, is there any chance this has something to do with the cold advance solenoid affecting the injection pump bleed back line to the tank? I disconnected...
Got a new cam advance pin and reinstalled the injection pump then filled with diesel. I tried turning it over with the intake manifold off and an injection line cracked open but nothing is coming out yet. Currently letting the batteries recharge before I give it another shot.
any chance you know the rotation of the injection pump? I keep reading conflicting info. At first I saw all are clockwise, then I saw someones was running counterclockwise, but the spare IJ I just bought is clockwise?
