    M1008 Build

Thanks! They were modified in that they don’t have side marker lights, but the wheel opening was not modified at all. I moved the axle forward 1.5” on the spring to clear the fender because that’s where the tire always hits while stuffed in a turn.

well its been a while since i've posted on here. Unfortunately, I think the time has come to move on to another project. This truck is awesome but I'm going to let her go. Take a look in the classifieds if interested. Thanks.

    Dark Seas M1008 Project

The heavy gauge wire is the engine (starter) ground to the chassis. This is an important wire. It needs to ultimately complete the starter circuit back to the battery, either via the bus bar or chassis (assuming the battery is grounded to the chassis elsewhere).

    6.2 rebuild help

Her is a set of “standard” bearings. If you look very closely, you can see that they all say .013 with the exception of the number 5 rear bearing which says .026. Not sure if this helps; maybe just a data point. I’ve never mic’d out an engine bearing to the ten thousands position, but that’s...

I recommend removing the glow plugs. It saves a lot of stress on the starter and batteries while priming the fuel system. I attached what my ground stud looks like on the rear of the block.

I can see you have the lifting plate installed and the studs seem to be in the correct orientation…it’s hard to say. Can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be lined up. Did you put a straight edge on it?

Original Stanadyne Fuel Filter Base Rebuild

Fortunately, it’s probably not that complicated. Most low temp, low pressure applications are perfectly suitable for a buna oring. Sure, durometer rating, and other composite characteristics are wonderful but we’re not building a space ship here, it’s just low temp petroleum product. We could...

    Front end rebuild

I don’t have an M1009 any more, but when it comes to steering components I would only buy MOOG parts. You can get any other Chinese crap from any parts house with a lifetime warranty but when the warranty is followed up by a 80-100 dollar alignment it pretty much is a waste of money. Do it once...

    Geared Lug Wrench options?

There is a tool out there called a "SWENCH." If you google it, it will pop right up. I have one and it works incredibly well. They are very expensive, but you are not going to break it.
