    Are M113s and M114s related?

True, they are not the same class vehicle, but the M-114 was originally going to be used in Vietnam, alongside & in support of the Infantry , the same role the 113's were. It was quickly seen that it's performance was less than POOR. The 113, APC, was for the most part, not used as personnel...

    Are M113s and M114s related?

While the 283 engine in the M-114 sounds great, once the track was loaded it was a " DOG." We kept our 113's heavily loaded in Vietnam, & the V-6 Detroit diesel, pulled just fine. By the time I got to Nam, the ARVN's [ South Vietnamese Army ] had " inherited " the gas versions of the M-113. The...

I have never heard of one with a steel hull, but it could have been a " movie prop " as suggested , or a prototype, etc.

Constructing artificial reefs are great , but it is hard for me to imagine tracks being used for these. Years back, railroad boxcars were used at many sites. They completely rusted through in a short while, & collapsed. I dove on some in Panama City , Fl., & came back the next year & they were...

Another one comes back to life

I remember one time in Vietnam, a group of us were being transported,, in a HURRY, by one of these. The " Camel " as they were called , hit a dip in the road at the same time it shifted gears. The soldier sitting at the back went up in the air about 4 feet & landed on the road behind us.The...

M151 (original flavor) fuel filter question: NAPA equivalent

That filter is easily bought at any parts stores. If I remember right, the Ford V-8's, 260 cu.in, 289, early 302, 360, & 390 all used the same . Maybe $3-4, for just the filter. The fuel pump runs off the camshaft of those engines. Is this one running off the rocker arm ?? Ever-Whatever,,, it is...

M151 (original flavor) fuel filter question: NAPA equivalent

That looks a lot like the fuel filter cannister that was used on late '60's early 70's 360 cu.in. Ford pick-ups, & similar engines. That fuel pump is upside down to their use, though.Have never seen anything like that on a 151, though.
