    M923A2 high EGT fix!

You can hear the blown gaskets. It makes a loud ticking sound where the exhaust pulses are escaping at the flange. The biggest sign is a heavy amount of soot in the engine comapartment. Exhaust escaping around the gaskets will coat everything in black!

    M923A2 high EGT fix!

Also, Cummins specs 35 ft-lb. on the manifold bolts. They don't need to be gorilla tight! Tighten from the center two cylinders outwards progressively in a box pattern. Use plenty of anti-seize on the threads, and they shouldn't give you too much trouble in the future.

    M923A2 high EGT fix!

Hey everyone. Been a while since I have posted. I wanted to share this with anyone having similar problems. Long post with information. Due to level of grease and contamination, unfortunately no pictures of the process. Picture of the truck is all I have for now (4th of July). I have a...

M939A2 lift pump replacement - part number 3936316

FWIW, Almost three years on this pump, and I am still trucking right along (no pun intended). I have put almost 5K miles on it with no issues. Still fires on the first hit of the starter, hot or cold.

    CTIS issue

I just used a small piece of thick rubber that I cut a plug from using abhole saw. Cracked the air line going to the problem wheel, and put the plug between the fittings. Seems to work just fine. The plug needs to be 1" in diameter.

    M925A2 overheating, I think

I'd start with getting it up to temp (240 on the gauge), then aim a digital temp gun at the thermostat housing.

    CTIS issue

Just as an update, I blocked off the line going to the wheel with the bad hub seal. The system pressurized all five remaining wheels to 50 psi in a matter of minutes! All appears back to normal I may re-install the computerized controller to see if that fixed the 5-light blink, too.

    CTIS issue

Ok, the squeal is undoubtedly a hub seal. I am going to try to block off the one wheel and see if that will get the other 5 wheels going.

    CTIS issue

Ok 5-tonners... 1991 M923A2. Factory CTIS was giving the 5-light blink, so I did the full manual controller conversion: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?161829-Manual-CTIS-control-how-to Once I got it installed, I ran air through it. The dump valves opened and tires were...

    Flea's M923A2

Just a quick update with some more recent photos. I am doing a "quasi" mil-themed paint scheme. The truck is going to be modeled after one in that would be found in the Black Mesa Research Facility from the video game Half-Life. I am taking some creative liberties, but it will be Black Mesa...

    Flea's M923A2

Did some electrical work. Wired in a 24-12v DC converter, good for 20 amps. Should handle the cell phone charger and a couple odds & ends no problem. Lights in the toolbox... The wires will get some split loom. I plan to add lights in the other toolbox as well. Also added some reverse lights...

    Flea's M923A2

Getting some paint on. I have a 24v to 12v converter to install when I find the time. Also, a short in the turn signal somewhere. Fried two civvy flashers so far.

M939A2 lift pump replacement - part number 3936316

When I brought my 923A2 home recently, it ran like a top. I got the thing parked, and it promptly died. I thought I ran it out of fuel, so I filled it using cans and reprimed the system. When I was priming, I noticed the fuel primer had some fuel weeping around the priming button. I decided...
