I'll probably see how it goes first before adding methanol.. I've grossed 67,000 but I didn't go up anything too steep. My goal is 60,000 when I start putting in real miles and going over the Rockies again, etc. So I'll see how it looks on the long pulls and go from there. I'd rather have...
Thanks for posting the follow up. "Cummins turbo'd the NHC 250 (making the NHCT 270) and so should you!" That's a nice, well thought out set up you have. I wouldn't be surprised if your boost goes back up a few lbs after you put the higher flow injectors in. You have lots of room to...
You sound like you have a pretty reliable set up and Warren has a great reputation for knowing how to tune 855's. I ran mine with no turbo and a straight pipe stack for a short while (muffler had rusted out), and damn that was loud. The turbo is a great muffler. I look forward to hearing...
Well, higher flow injectors are the smart way to go. (as opposed to just a pressure increase). It's "squirting more fuel through a small nozzle" that strains the cam/lifters. I'll probably only put 200k on this truck so I'm not too worried, like an over the road driver would be. I imagine...
I like that intercooler. I plan to put one on mine and that's a good size (for about 300 hp and 15 psi of boost). I look forward to hearing how it works for you. I have stock injectors with a turbo and a little over 200 psi out of the pump and set it to go up to about 23-2400 rpm to help with...
This about a 45k trailer (with a 20k tongue weight on the pintle). Only had to go about 100 miles so not like a long test, but temps were great with 10 psi boost and 180-200 psi fuel pressure under load. No crazy grades but there were a few hills. I was about 65k on the scale. Wouldn't want...
Thanks for these. Useful specs. From what I understand, the smoke kits were "encouraged" to clean up the stacks and required the mechanics to add the turbo, but turn down the fuel. Giving the same power with less fuel/cleaner exhaust. Guys would come back later and get the fuel turned back...
Changing trucks is always easiest but if you’re the handy type, adding a turbo with a little boost (10-15 psi) and bumping up the fuel pressure a little (don‘t exceed 200 often or by much) will give a nice, reliable bump in power without raising EGT’s (turbos lower EGTs). Plenty of turbo’d 250s...
Real happy with the 395's for road use. 65 mph speed rating and ride pretty good. Kinda "springy". Off road, they're ok but I'd compare them more to a BF Goodrich All Terrain, instead of an M/T. Sounds like you have more use for M/T's....
It was built in ‘74 in Minnesota to haul a dozer around the Great Lakes building roads. Then a Puget Sound freighter, then an Alaskan fish tender w/crane, then I built a wood shop on it about 12 years ago. I think it was a custom build for a construction company.
