Actually, what I'm doing is more in line with the HMMWV design than loading up a 12,000 gvw truck to 15,000 with armor (like they're doing now). The stresses are much less with a 5800lb vehicle and quite a bit of hp. (think rat patrol) All the halfshafts/geared hubs are 12,100 up armored stuff...

Civilian H1s are much quieter than the HMMWV, talk on cell phones etc. You'll never make a Humvee quiet. The civilian trucks are sound proofed when they're put together. It's cheaper to buy a civilian truck and paint it camo.
