    Non-running for 7yrs deuce resurrected---running.

Not a bad idea, but unless it grows fungus, diesel doesn't go bad like gasoline. I've had two year old gas be bad enough that an engine wouldn't run on it, but 7, 8+ year old diesel that burned fine. Personally, if it's running OK, I'd just throw a couple additives in and use it up.

    Building Deuces Normandy 1944

Not that I don't have plenty of gripes about millennials, but I don't know that I'd rather be humping 100 lbs of gear through the desert in 120° heat and sandstorms worrying about unseen enemies and roadside bombs constantly than what our WWII vets faced in any of the theatres. In some ways it...

24 volt and 12 volt system

Most higher draw items, like off road lights, are readily available in 24V. So are aftermarket electric wipers. 12V winches can handle 24 if you mind your motor can temps. Really, the only things you truly need a 12V supply for are stereo equipment (who can hear a radio in a deuce anyway?)...

    Stolen M35 - Colorado - on or before 11/22/2015

That sucks. I have posted a link to this thread on FB and other bulletin boards, hopefully we'll get the message spread far and wide enough to catch the *******s. I'm not very close to Gunnison, but will keep my eyes and ears peeled. I keep mine in a gated yard most of the time, rarely is it...

Put the old girl to work

First, sorry XchaosX, I do not mean to hijack the thread, and I'll start another if need be. That said: It still has the CDOT super structure and angling rams, but no chassis mount. We have CAD designed a really slick mount that will be 3/8" plate running underneath and extending along the...

Put the old girl to work

The NDTs do OK up to 1-1/2 or 2 feet, provided there is not ice underneath. Get those center ribs on slick stuff, though, it's real easy to get these trucks stuck. I do have chains for all 10, just didn't bother this time around, as it's an ordeal to get them on and properly tightened, and I...

Put the old girl to work

I think we may all be in for it this year, whole el nino thing. I just know we had crazy precipitation here in CO all summer, and we're way overdue for some heavy snow fall. Heck, the 2006 blizzard here was the reason I bought a deuce, and we haven't had anything serious since! It and it's...

Put the old girl to work

Nice! Makes for fewer trips than all the cute little "heavy duty" pickups! Lol. Mine got a workout today, too. Blizzard Monday afternoon through mid day yesterday dumped 2 feet of really wet, heavy snow on us. I winched out everything from small SUVs to pulling a Ram 4500 crew cab sideways...

    My first Deuce.

If you can, cancel that order, then just go to your local NAPA, Oreilly or truck stop and get a couple of post type group 31 commercial batteries. Cheaper, more amps, more reserve, and available anywhere.

    $55,000 quad cab bobbed Deuce

Am I missing something? I mean, it's a good lookin' custom, but $55k??? I could see that if it had more amenities and a Cummins common rail or 500+ HP big block V-8 swapped in. But to me it seems like a lot for a project that could be DIY for under $15,000, including the basic truck..

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

That's an idea, but I think the intercooler is more practical until EGT's dictate that more cooling is needed. I have an HE-35 off a common rail that I might play with on my LTD at some point. That turbo was efficient to 35 PSI on the 5.9. But I'm more concerned about the injection pump being...

Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

I know how to do the math. I also know what the real wrold draw is with an amp clamp on the wires. Trust me, two 55w rated aftermarket lights don't draw 9.16 amps, not even when the system is charging at 13.6-14.2v. To the OP- It sounds like you're planning on running alot more 12v stuff...

Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

Yeah, I considered that. But it would take a pretty substantial draw to create that problem, alot more than a radio and a couple accessory lights. Even 55w 12 volt lights, a pair will only draw 6-8 amps. I can see it with the intake heater, though. Since I think most of us are only requiring...

Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

OMG, you all are way overcomplicating this. You have two 12v batteries, not a single 24v. It's really simple. All i did was run a 4 AWG wire from the rear battery positive terminal to a fuse block mounted on the passenger kickpanel, and viola! 12v on tap. I run my BU light, heater fan and...

max HP out of a 465 multi fuel?

I'm no expert on the MF engines, but it's not hard to understand why their power output is so low for a 7.6 liter mill. For one, until more recently, military doctrine called for relatively low speeds. It deosn't take 400 hp to move a 20,000 lb loaded deuce at 35-40 MPH, unless talking a...
