    Water temp gauge m923a1

I have always had to break the air lines and pull cables. Do the battery switch and start switch first. Just whatever keeps you from gaining access to the back of the panel.

    M923A1 Oil Change Intervals

Probably more like 100. Still that might be a little long too. I'm coming up on 100 hrs soon. I will probably do an oil analysis after the next 100.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

CAT D5, Bobcat T86 and attachments on several different trailers. Maybe D7G for short distances in the county. This tractor's military fifth-wheel was replace with a low profile one to pull RGN low-boy.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Not this week but last year.:D M931-A1 cab rehab. Actually, going over the entire truck to make ready for hauling. Putting in a back wall mount R-2400-0 RD-2-4369-1 OEM Red Dot Backwall unit. This is the Space X truck posted as my user pic. It is a very nice tractor but it needs a complete going...

    Ospho on CARC Paint

I use diesel and Dawn with a little bit of water to the mix. It creates a heavy de-greaser solution. I use Harbor Freight 1.25 pressure sprayer.

To blast or not .. and then what. Professional advice sought

Here are the products I use to kill rust and prep for painting. If rust is deep and between part surfaces I will use Phos-foe. I will use loctite SF-7625 on heavy pitted rust. Red primer and Bondo Glass or fiberglass matting to create a new sub straight. I will use fiberglass to rebuild cab floors.

    MV - Heavy Equipment Discussions?

I will probably get a set of manuals for the D7. I have them for the D5b. I bet the A/C wasn't an option for the military version otherwise it would have been in the TM. Everything is there on the blower control panel except for the AC switch. The boss on the engine block is there to except the...

    MV - Heavy Equipment Discussions?

Thank you! Thank you again. I think my CAT dealership is pretty good and I only have one experience with them. I think they're just not very thorough with completing the finer details of segment. When they rebuilt the track adjusters and blade group trunnions they should have finished the...

My new hobby: Wood military vehicles

You got that right!!! It doesn't matter what it is.., it will give you purpose and enjoyment for the rest of your life. I can't sit around and watch TV sports like some distant friends always do.., but I will occasionally turn it on as background noise while I'm working on something. Very few...

    MV - Heavy Equipment Discussions?

My wife's son is a CAT mechanic. He don't no crap about the older machines. Caterpillar is a different company now. They consider anything over 20 years old to be obsolete. They want to sell new machines and forget about the old ones. The old school mechanics are all gone now but I have one in...

    MV - Heavy Equipment Discussions?

I can't find any evidence that A/C was ever installed on the D7G. All of the air handler/blower infrastructure is there but no evaporator core or compressor mounting information in the TM. I certainly did not see any, and if it existed it would be in the TM. It's a custom job at this point. I...

Rebuilding after 15 years of storage

I had a 1983 Suburban w/6.2 diesel (no turbo). It was great! I think it got 22 mpg on the highway, 17-18 in town. Originally, I think it had a 24 gallon steel tank? Wasn't it considered the first true GM diesel? Looked exactly the same as what I see in the pictures. Well, the tank got a pin hole...
