New member from Maine, looking at buying a Stewart and Stevenson M 1078.

Hi from New Brunswick. I'm also looking into one of these rigs now that the prices have gotten more reasonable. I don't see why everyone is so down on them as a plow though. They look to me like they would do a great job with a nice 10' heavy weight plow.

    Plow truck progress

I've been out plowing and fixing for the last few weeks - mostly fixing... Anyway, here's a late thanks for the great pictures of your mount. That is one very nice looking rig you have. I plow part of the army base here; I bet some jaws would hit the floor if I showed up with that thing to...

    Snow Plow Mount

Yeah! I would really appreciate a picture. On my wing trucks I run a brace from the wing corner of the mount up to the frame and they hold up well. No broken frames yet. This truck will get a 14' one way and a 12' wing. I always wondered about all the plow trucks I see online with no wings...

    Snow Plow Mount

So your plow goes under the axle and hooks up to the frame somewhere rearward? That sounds more like what I have in mind. How much clearance did you leave to the bottom of the axle? I'm planning on using a similarly heavy plow. Here is a plan picture of the headgear and wing post.

    Snow Plow Mount

The reason people like to use the axle to support the plow goes like this. The plow frame has to be parallel to the ground, or pretty close to parallel to push properly and not beat its self up. That means the mount has to be very low. No problem on a regular truck or probably even with one of...

    importing a deuce to canada!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how did this work out? Were you able to get across the border with the SF97? Any other special hurdles?

    Snow Plow Mount

Goinmxin has a thread going about his very nice plow build. Myself and a few others are asking about how he did his mount, particularly how it hooks up to the front axle. I found a few pictures of a truck that recently sold on the new surplus auction site with a plow mount on it. I'm posting...

    Plow truck progress

That's a really nice looking job. I've been considering doing a similar thing for a while now, but the main thing holding me back is figuring out how to support the plow. On most big trucks you just bolt a big piece of plate to the outside of the frame and you are good to go, but these have...

    M929A2 PTO Question

I'm looking into getting an M929A2 to use as a plow. I read a few posts about older 5 tons destroying their PTOs when left engaged on the highway, but I can't find specific information about the M929A2 on the forums or in the TMs. A plow needs to be able to engage the PTO at all times, so I'm...

    Appels 932a2 flatbed work/plow truck

Did you ever get some pics of the mount to the axle? Does it pivot somewhere to allow the axle to travel? I'm looking at buying a 929a2 to put a plow on it. I see alot of mounts on deuces with varying degrees of success, but not too many on this truck. It's pretty busy around the drivers...

    Four wheel steering

InfiniteFoamies, Have you got a thread going somewhere for your plow mod? I'm looking into picking up am m929a2 to use as a plow truck for some dirt roads that I plow (getting really tired of having the International stuck at 3a.m.). Did you have to custom fab your plow mount, or does one...
