    MEP-016D Low Voltage

Thought I had given up on military generators, but I know own another. Starts easily with pull rope and runs great. On all single phase voltage settings, however, it puts out a little over 41 volts between L1 and L2 lugs. I have a reman generator head for this unit, but I’m hoping the solution...

    MEP-016 Info

Does someone sell the bell housing and shaft adapter to put an MEP 016 head onto a Yanmar L70?

    Bell Housing for MEP 016

I’ve given up trying to fix either of my MEP 831a generators. One of them has a good Yanmar L70. I’ve purchased an MEP 016 head, but I need the appropriate bell housing. Anybody have one? I would buy it or swap 831a parts. I have one of Kurt’s solid state speed controllers for an 831a and many...

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

Thanks so much for the work around. Machine is running smoothly and rock steady under load. It is a joy to watch the state of charge on my monitor. This is the same motor as machine we've used for four years, but it's never run this smoothly. I can tell by the sound that it's running at a lower...

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

This is a pinch. I need to charge my batteries. I also want to fix it properly. This engine does not have a pull start rope.

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

Spring is in proper position top and bottom. After I checked, I closed the gap to a little under 1/4". Now it shuts down with switch, at least with cold engine. Engine speed still cycles constantly. No idea how it may run under load with engine warm. I would love to proceed with getting load to...

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

The gap is set to 5/16". The machine does not shut off with the switch. Often it will turn off if I turn it to off then immediately cycle to run and back to off. Sometimes I have to open the case and kill it with the compression release. That gap is hard to adjust because the machine does not...

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

I checked again in about an hour. Found one of the relay hold down clips loose and apparently shorted. Fixed that. Machine ran much better. Still some fluctuation, but not much. Readings still 223 v. Ran it for over an hour with no problem. It sometimes does not turn off with switch.

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

When I did not find numbered terminals on the governor control module, I consulted the manual. Read there that A/B, B/C and C/A should all read 178 vac =/- 2 v. I checked those. This is your module. A/B reads 223 v. B/C reads 223 v. C/A reads 221 v. The machine is not holding a steady speed. It...

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

I had negative probe clamped to battery negative. I will retest in the morning with probe affixed elsewhere. Thanks again for your help.

MEP 831a No Power To Main Bus

I greatly appreciate your help. Took time and the strongest glasses I could find to make out numbers on the relay sockets. Reaching K15-12 with the probe was challenging. The small LED inside K12 came on while S5 is in On position. It went off after engine started. K12-12. 13.35v K12-4...
