Yes, some were clogged as well. Follow the instructions from post 20 in this thread. That should help you identify what's blocking the flow of fuel. Don't be afraid or hesitant to remove injectors and pumps for troubleshooting.
Good luck!
I filled the tank with red diesel and some biocide. I hope it holds clean for a while.
Today I tested the setup and it worked just fine. I run the unit for an hour at 85%, no issues. I made some adjustments to allow the tank to breath because the cap resulted to be non-vented. If were to have...
Hey guys,
I wanted to share the project I started to connect the MEP803 to a diesel sub-base tank. The goal is to circumvent the secondary system and run new lines to use the primary pump directly.
I started with the exterior lines. I replaced the original bulkhead connector with a compression...
Hey there,
I have a battery charger in the unit hooked up to an outlet installed inside the genset with a single pole double throw relay. The relay is wired so the charger is connected to the normally closed leg. I now need 24v to open the circuit when the engine is on but I'm having a hard...
Hi there,
I thought that even under max load the diesel engine should not have visible smoke. Bursts of black smoke are OK when a load is added. But based on Daybreak's video my MEP is working just fine. This is the type of reference hard to find in forums an TMs, only real life experiences...
I adjusted today a couple of IPs and I think it improved a bit. Based on the temp readings while on load I need to adjust more the second IP. I tried measuring the EGT at the bottom of the exhaust manifold and at the top of the exhaust port. Here are the readings I could gather (bottom...
My unit runs a lot hotter than that... I'll try doing another load test tomorrow and I'll record the temps again.
Good idea embedding the video... I'll edit the initial post.
I'm splitting this topic from the THIS thread. I think it's worth covering separately the black smoke from my genset while load testing it. HERE is a video of the test.
I already received great feedback:
I don't mind removing the hood and the cover, I just used a few bolts to keep it in...
I don't mind removing the hood and the cover, I just used a few bolts to keep it in place. I checked the temperature between cylinders on the outside of the exhaust ports and they are not the same, they are close but not in the same range. On top of it, the reading changes by moving the IR dot...
I have the pipe capped with a silicone cap/plug... I'm planning on installing a rain cap but it's difficult to find one in this size. Something like this should work fine, right?
About the smoke... I'm glad you mention it. This is not the first load test I run on this unit. The smoke never...
