VIC-3 whistling noise with Engine rpm

Sounds like alternator whine, which may be a defective alternator, (bad diode?) it may charge ok, but still cause the whine. Where is the power connected? Check grounding location(s) You could install a filter, but better to eliminate the source of the interference.

    Military BNC connectors

Darn, the part number would be the best way to get what you need. If room allows for it; I have used vacuum or fuel hose or similar material that will tightly slip over the barrel to get a better grip on my test cables. There are a few good business that will build the cable you need. I...

    Military BNC connectors

Understand, but I have not seen a BNC barrel with that much knurled surface recently, I can't recall the one manufacturer that made them like that, it's been a long time since I have seen them. Is there a part number anywhere on the connector?

    Military BNC connectors

The BNC connector on the left is a crimp type, and the one on the right is a clamp or solder type. Different manufacturers have slight variations, so depending on the manufacturer, the knurled part may be smaller or larger than the one you have in the picture. The crimp connector requires a...

    MX-6707 Thread size

I measured my MX-6707 antenna threads, it is 1 inch diameter and 14 threads per inch. I also measured the AS-3900 it is 12 tpi, hope this helps. Brian

    M1008 Seat Cover Replacement/Upholstery

That's good to hear about the jatonka seats, I have a M1008 that has the "horse blanket" seat cover on it, it worked to protect the original vinyl seat, but it is very uncomfortable. I looked at John's web site, I didn't see a seat cover for the M1009, I will contact him when I am ready to...

    M1008 Seat Cover Replacement/Upholstery

Do they have that cool military canvas smell, like the original ones do? I noticed the oil/chemical smell will stay with you for days after sitting on a NOS seat cover. I don't mind how they smell, but if you wore nice clothes, I wonder if it would ever clean out.

    Vaccum pump for 6.2l

"Since I just bought it this moment, it will take a week or so before i lay hands on it and attempt the swap. If successful, it would be a relatively cheap and plentiful way to fix our 6.2 vacuum pumps." Any updates on this project? Did the swap work?

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Well, apparently I need help on how to upload the pictures, I have poked around trying to figure it out, but have not been able to yet.

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Ok, Here are the pictures of the vacuum pump cut opened and disassembled. This is the "exploded" view, as it would be disassembled. Shown as the unit is first opened, diaphragm and output line on left, spring and housing on right. Housing half that bolts to the gear housing shaft and output...

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

Sure, I will get some pictures posted as soon as I get home from work. My unit was soaked in oil, indicating the seal around the diaphragm was leaking, maybe a bad valve caused oil to be drawn into it, so WD40 would not help mine. The diaphragm can be inspected, the valves require further...

    Vacuum pump/late shifting M1009

My son's M1009 has the same problem; transmission not shifting right, oscillating vacuum on the vacuum pump, when I tested it the vacuum oscillated from about 8 to 24 psi of vacuum. I don't remember seeing this on my other cucv engines. I started looking at sourcing replacement pumps, but I...

CUCV Mechanical pump not pumping fuel

Hey, thanks for getting after me about an update. Recently cucvsrus pointed out the differences between what the auto parts stores are selling and the correct part for the mechanical fuel pump. I previously replaced the pump twice with the same (wrong) part number, and neither pump is...

    Tailgate Replacement Question (M1009)

Thanks, it looks like it would be way easier to add to the outside. I had a friend weld my tailgate lower rust area, he cut, added a piece of auto metal and stitch welded it in place, used plastic body filler to smooth it out and primered (until I get to painting it) He did a great job. I don't...
