Our local city public works has been using M1008's and fixing them up for plow, work and maintenance trucks. This one is the vehicle maintenance shop's road service truck. They did an extra nice job on it.
Thx guys. The security aspect is a plus and the storage on the sides would be nice. If I am able to get them they would be used for off road law enforcement response such as disasters or remote crime scenes. These two had soft skin doors but I could acquire the hard doors later.
I was at Letterkenny Army Depot yesterday picking up some trailers for our Sheriff's Office thru the LESO program. I saw a couple of hard top HMMWVs there and wanted to know what they were used for. I searched and found that it was a kit that could be ordered thru supply to convert soft tops but...
Welcome from just up the river in Wheeling. We run some former military stuff here for off road and disaster response (floods mostly). The city likes to use 1008's for snow plows and work trucks. We dont have any big dumps or graders like you though.

Same plane was here a few years ago and a friend of ours tried to get his father to go see it because he was on bomber crews in WWII. He never talked much about it before and politely said he had no desire to see this one because he lost too many friends in them.
I also had a neighbor where I...
We had a B17G Flying Fortress at our local airport (Wheeling/Ohio Co, WV) this week. Saw it land and taxi after a flight with some folks who put up the cash for a ride. Its the Sentimental Journey with the Commerative Air Force.
We went to Letterkenny Army Depot and recovered these two M1009's through the 1033 or LESO program. Towed one, drove one. Had no major issues but noticed the rear seal on the transer case of the one I drove was leaking. Tailgate and rear axle were spotted pretty bad. We plan on getting one more...
