    Weight rating for 5 tons

Could be wrong, but my understanding is that maximum legal front axle weight is 20,000 lbs. With dual axle rears at 34,000, maximum theorectical gross weight for a 3 axle straight truck can be 54,000 lbs. There are other limitations to observe such as tire capacity, structural limits, etc. Add...

Does driving a three axle m35a3 require a CDL?

Commercial drivers licenses are generally required for operating vehicles or combinations (meaning including trailers or towed vehicles) in excess of 26,000 lbs gross weight. Axle count isn't an issue except as to its relation to the maximum combined gross weight. That is, the more axles you...

    Fuel tank access cover hardware?

I don't recall the fastener type and size, but they are listed in the G741-Ord 9 parts manual.

    New Member from Wisconsin

Good morning, and welcome, Have you gotten in touch with the guys at the Midwest Military Vehicle Association in your neck of the woods? They put on the MVPA annual convention in Oshkosh this year. It's a fun group, and I know they'll be helpful.

    WC63 color mystery

Yes, that is a possibility. When I purchased the vehicle, it was on the main road leading to Edwards which was my destination. It's the gray over yellow paint that's the mystery.

    Rewiring/wiring questions advice

That's kind of a tough one. The original wiring does get crunchy, and it needs to be repaired or replaced. Replacement is the better approach because you don't know what's going on in the areas that are unseen or unexposed. Replacement harnesses are available. (Vintage Wiring is one...

Anybody have a bird just fly right into your HMMWV windshield?

:unsure:In my vast and long experience, this is a phenomenon confined mostly to HMMWVs and related vehicles.

    WC63 color mystery

Yes. The key fits and turns the switch as designed. It is still operational.

    WC63 color mystery

Thank you for the nice remarks. I'm fairly sure that I've established that the yellow is a repaint. There's more to the mystery: two data plates are brass-riveted to the driver side kick panel. While the plates show "Truck, 1 1/2 Ton, 6x6, Personnel Carrier," I can find no WC 63 identification...

    WC63 color mystery

In the mid-80s, I purchased my WC-63 where I saw it parked in front of a business near Hesperia, CA. I'm in the process of getting it back on the road, but I'm a bit confounded by the color beneath the peeling gray paint. It appears to have been yellow. The yellow paint is evident...

20-21 September 2024 Redball Military Transport Rally and Huge Military Flea Market

Well, that looks hard to miss, and it's a great looking rig. We arrived Thursday afternoon, and were there all day Friday and most of Saturday. It was a good show, and my buddy and I came home with a lot of parts. We asked several people if they knew anyone who brought 7 900-16s, but we came up...

20-21 September 2024 Redball Military Transport Rally and Huge Military Flea Market

The 900-16s are something that I'm interested in...of course, it's hard to commit sight unseen, but if it's not too much of a hassle....
