Way back in 1963 I bought my first M37 for $200 and spent about $100 to get it on the road. My brother-in-law bought one at the same time for $300. They were surplus to the Forest Service and had some rough sheet metal. Door dings, curled fenders and wavy front bumpers. Over time we traded parts...

I purchased several for parts out of a salvage yard and the average I paid was over $2K. The yard owner was firm at $3K for the complete not running units so I made a package offer on all that he had.

Ah yes, chain keeps from bending the stakes with a load of grain. My father-in-laws 57 Chevy with a Tempe bed was equipped with chains as well. ~~ How about M37keppy starting a thread about his Weasel!!!

Yes on the 4BT fitting. I once rode around in an M37 that was fitted with a Detroit Diesel 3 cylinder out of a Gamma Goat. The owner switched centers in Goat wheels to make them fit the M37. Duece transmission and more. It was a screamer in more ways than one. Something like that might fit as well.

Having looked under the hood of several K18's I would have to comment that as nice an idea that is, shoehorning a Duramax in that engine pit would take massive effort.

NO! Almost positive the K18 GMC came with a 270 CID GMC engine. (and military version to boot.)
