I will have to think about that. Ensuring the fastener is engaged, backstopping, and the "feel good" of visual confirmation. There is some good physics in there somewhere.
Any threads sticking out do not participate in the fastening of the wheel. The stock steelies have 9 threads of engagement + what sticks out. The aluminum wheels with the shoulder nuts have 11 threads of engagement with none sticking out.

Good discussion and timely as I replumb intake piping. Of all the stuff I deleted, I kept the trash can but shortened the snorkel. I concur that it's overkill, but I have space for it and it looks cool.
I deleted the polarity box. It's a 0.7 volt voltage drop across there. Deleted shunt as well. And deleted all that stuff under the dash that Ronmar speaks of.
