I have not yet tried any of the filters. I need to pull the generator out of the corner to work on it. It will take up one of the garage bays while the work is being done on it.
We got several inches of snow a couple days ago and it’s snowing again today. I dispise scraping ice off windows...
All the filters showed up last week. I inspected every one. They were all in excellent condition and all came with the appropriate gaskets. The water separators came from 3 different stores in in 3 different boxes. I paid about $10.00 shipping but the actual cost was over $16.00. They must...
When I was looking for filters, I found there were literally more than 2 dozen name brands that were listed as crossovers for water/fuel separators, fuel filters, oil filters, and air filters. I checked the specifications on most of them. They were all within a few thousandths of an inch as...
Here's a little more information from the invoice.
FRAM CS8941 Fuel/Water Separator Cartridge
Qty: 12 / $0.44
Line Total: $5.28
The fuel filters are Hastings FF906
I purchased a dozen Fram CS8941 water/fuel separator cartridge filters from our local Farm & Fleet store. They were the last of their stock.
FRAM CS8941 Fuel/Water Separator Cartridge | Blain's Farm & Fleet
The competition Fleet Farm chain is still selling them for $14.99
Fuel/Water...
All the filters came with both the flat gasket and the o ring style. I've already changed out the oil filter and the new filter was the exact same size, and the gasket fit perfectly. I'll be changing the fuel strainer and filters next week.
I have no doubt I will get the unit running. This is as much of a hobby as it is an endeavor to get it up and running. I did some fairly extensive research and found a couple farm stores and online vendors that were getting rid of slow-moving stock. The fuel/water separator filters were less...
The generator is still covered in the corner of the garage, but the last of the filters I ordered arrived yesterday. I now have oil filters, air filters, fuel filters, and fuel/water separator filters. I found it much cheaper to order them by the case rather than on an individual basis. Once...
It's still a little too cold to start working on the generator. It was down to -7*F a couple days ago and is supposed to go back down to -12*F by tomorrow evening. To add to the mix, we just got another 8" of snow. To pass the time among other things I've been procuring oil, fuel, and air...
Thanks for the tips on the wire locations. When I removed the starter, I marked the wires to return them to their original spots. It didn't dawn on me that they may be on the wrong terminals. I'll consult the wiring diagram and be sure they are connected properly.
Thanks Again. I hope this...
Yes, I am consistently getting 24 volts to the starter. I have cleaned all the battery posts and the battery cable connections. I have also cleaned the loop ends of the cables where they attach to the starter and ground to the frame.
The batteries are (were) connected properly using the original cables. There was power at the main lug where the battery cable connects to the solenoid. I could jump the solenoid to get the starter to crank. As for rodent damage I have removed all shrouds and covers to thoroughly inspect...
I do have a Fluke 795 multimeter and have used it on countless occasions to diagnose electrical problems. I have checked the circuit breaker and there is no power to either side. I'm somewhat afraid there is a broken wire in one of the looms. There is no evidence of physical abuse or obvious...
Last summer I picked up a MEP 002A generator from an estate sale. It had been stored in a tobacco shed for some time. I'm not sure how long it sat, but a least long enough for the fuel to start to gel in the tank. When I brought it home, I drained and cleaned the fuel tank, changed the oil...
