which color optima batteries do yall use? thanks for the link. i will try to troubleshoot it tonight. if the second battery is dead, could that cause the gen 2 light to barely light up when turning the key on? it barely lights up then when it's running, it lights up bright and won't go out.

really? so just a slight grind when i shift quickly to low is normal?? thanks for the knowledge. this is my first 4x4 so im not use to it. whew thought i was gunna have to return it to the shop after an $800 bill.

when i shift to 4x4 low, it sorta grinds. it's less of a grind and more of a metal on metal single creeking sound. it seems like it would grind some if i did it slowly. in the end it shifts into 4 low but what could the issue be? hopefully not a costly one haha.

the reason i think it's going out is my gen 2 light is staying on. both alternators have been tested and are good. Thanks

i think my second battery is going out. what are the best batteries to use? do i need two of the same kind of battery? also, any danger of wearing out my brand new starter in the meantime until i can get a new battery?

Well it looks good but I need to know for sure it would work with my 1008. I'm out on costly and time consuming setbacks. I just want my truck to run again. Can anyone verify that it would work?

it's at a local diesel performance shop. they ballparked me at $900 for rebuilt pump and $300 for labor. just curious if that's what they go for.

ok my truck is in the shop. having the hot no start problem. the mechanic said it might just need a different starter. right now it has the gear reduction starter. they one put the one on that spins faster. Does that make sense? Also, can someone point me to a good source to buy a rebuilt...

by the way there is nothing left of the bolt sticking out. Its way up in the hole where the threads are. So if I could get it to a mechanic, what will their options be?

well tonight I doubled the pleasure. I broke the xtractor in the bolt. Now what?

thanks for the info. it looks like an original bolt of that's the case. this is the most frustrating thing.

so what does that mean? if it bottomed out? anyone tried heating it with a propane torch?

how do you get the stinkin bolt out? i have drilled a small pilot, inserted a kobalt screw extractor, and tried to get it out. the extractor is squared so it doesn't work in a drill...i cant get the drill to grab it tight enough. so i tried a T-bar style wrench specifically for square bits...
