The DoT had some other remarks, the most important being that the headlights and brake lights are too far from the outside of the truck and the pintle hook not being legal on civil vehicles.
I could get a new "fish-mouth" coupling with a large discount (left). Had a craftsman metalworker...
Typical view from our working place
Officially you are not allowed to mess around with the frame, but DoT agreed that I could assemble a 5th wheel using the strengthened cross beam as basis.
Three friends of my brother occasionally helped me. Here, one of them is drilling the holes...
There is more information on the truck and how we partly restored it in the Netherlands on our museum website (horribly outdated site, I know).
I had know about this truck for some years, but never thought it would be available.
I have to extend the story a bit to explain why and how...
Late start in the race. I was down for some days with a gallbladder problem, sleeping a lot and trying to survive, but things are more or less OK again. Wednesday we had to take care of 20 five- to seven-year old kids (including some North American kids) from an international school trying...
Maybe motivating more or better entries, finally will trow in my M51A2 /M52A2 so we at least have a race.
The color is horrible, just needed a quick fit.

DaveP's sleeper cab with tanker trailer
Another one about Dave's truck
This is an adapted M820 with an old Peterbuilt sleeper, done by member DaveP. Tried to find any...

My Friend, that is not really a winning strategy with the German police somewhere on a road who stop you. Having to pay for the towing service that tows an illegal vehicle from the road will be the least of your problems.
Most countries have this little sentence "you are supposed to know the...
Hi Amanda, welcome.
I met your father for the first and, unfortunately, last time at the 2014 GA rally. Somehow, I ended up first in Swiss' tent close to Ron's place and later, after Swiss came, had a small tent next to your father's TeePee.
We spent most mornings drinking coffee...
