    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Thank you very much for all the useful information Jeff! It looks like you may be my go to guy! Would the serial number give me any information? The inertia starter is wound up and it and the lever on top is thrown to engage and start the motor. I got the starter working cranked it up and it...

Attached are a couple photos of the front end and the dash. Sorry for the poor quality couldn't see the screen to focus the pictures. Going to have new means later on in the week with better pictures to follow!

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

The TwinBeech site does have lot's of information and lot's of pictures in one spot instead of scattered around the internet. I haven't gotten around to contacting them for more information yet but I will get there. The cab isn't in horrible condition. There is a good bit of wood that needs...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Ahhh from the pictures I've seen I I am going to say no. Definitely a lot of similarities but one of the things I noticed first are the supports that go over the spare wheels extend up past the rest of the wrecker frame whilst the Federals supports run up leaving the top of the wrecker frame...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Wow! Great pictures! Thanks! If you are planning a model I can take lots of pictures. I have an extra transmission and transfer case for full detail. Most of the truck is complete. I'm not sure if it has the original mirror or not and it's missing the black out drive lights as well as some brush...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

I am from Indiana, sorry haven't gotten to filling everything out yet. I sadly don't really have the means or resources to transport something so big so far. I love this truck and it very well may be something I keep my whole life. I have a few toys none of them practical but I can't think of...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Hmm that is a good picture! The Federal 605 and 606 are nearly identical , however, the 605 has a 5 foot longer wheel base. I kind of love the how the C2's look with the old cable cable style wreckers I thought I could make one if i got enough pictures and measurements. I am looking for a large...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Ahh! As far as selling her goes I think she may be something I hold onto my whole life! haha! Any idea how much a truck like that is worth though? Just out of curiosity. I don't think I could find a single picture or mention of a 1940

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Thanks NDT! I have heard of similar trucks in Michigan in at a place called Sweeny's but I haven't made the drive yet. As far as the engine I don't think it needs anything accept an exhaust manifold. If I can't find one I can probably have it made.

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Thank you! It will definitely be an adventure! I will take plenty of pictures when I can. S- Cam air brakes work great and so do the horns and steering powered by an air ram. All three pto's and six wheel drive! Even the vacuum windshield wipers. It's pretty rough on the bad country pavement but...

    1940 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

I recently bought this 1940 Federal 606. I have found extremely limited information on it and would like to start with finding DETAILED information on the wrecker equipment. It was driven 32 miles home and runs beautifully with the original Hercules HXD. Had to save it from going to the scrap...
