Not sure where this fits - not exactly a TM but good info for those that want it. Outlines the FMTV program and compares it to M939 and M44 series trucks.
So, I needed a set of 395s and it was cheaper to buy a trailer with the tires (local) than it was to buy/ship and then pay someone to mount the tires (time issue).
So, I picked this up.
These look like standard FMTV wheels. So, they should be a direct bolt on to an M939A2, correct?
I already have gas masks, filters,, etc that will do much better than just a simple dust filter.
The positive pressure system add-ons for them are like $50. Thanks to Israel handing them out to their citizens like candy in the event of a chemical attack, they're readily available.
The particle...
Maryland doesn't actually care about the law, or anything other than whatever policy they can make up on the spot.
They don't want those evil scary assault trucks on the road, despite them being exempt from FMVSS.
'We don't register tactical vehicles'
To add:
They always pull up...
Already accounted for. I plan on multiple vents. The venting system will have both fan driven (through an air exchanger) and through filtration - I was hoping to have multiple smaller vents that are less visible, and fed via 2" or so PCV with bends so light doesn't escape. The air filtering...
So... You know I like to overanalyze things. I need input.
I originally got an M934 but realized the length was a limitation and the way the body expanded was virtually useless for planning purposes. I sold it.
I figured I'd get a deuce (And I did) then realized that due to parts availability...
If you're doing any serious offroading, you're either going to want to draw an imaginary 45* from your rear tire to about halfway up your occupant structure, or make the occupant structure end before the bumperettes.
You can fit a lot in 15-16'
Ohh, man... Sorry for your loss.. Such horrible shape... I'll be by around 1900 with a trailer to take it off your hands for you to save you the trip to the junkyard. Don't wory about the fuel. I'll cover that too...
Lifepo4 isn't designed for that current draw. They do make 'starter' Lifepo4 but they're still not up to snuff - there are also issues with charging below 32F, and USAGE below 0F. Charging below 32F can cause permanent damage - decent batteries have either a low temp cutoff or a built in heater...
Project Farm did a review on penetrating fluids. This blew everything else out of the water. I was a huge Kroil fan but now buy this stuff and it seems to work a lot better.
I like this.
Here in the states we just replace entire units. We have a culture of replacing instead of repairing.
The 'art of repair' is something that's lost on the vast majority of this and the previous (my) generation. Even mechanics these days will just throw parts at the problem instead...
