    Dearborn adapter woes

I’ll be shopping for one of the rugged Dell’s with the serial port.

    Dearborn adapter woes

That was the plan for this old laptop. Just to live in the truck and diagnose issues. COM port 3, yes I can see it in the device manager. I’ll have some time tomorrow or Sunday to mess around with it some more.

Yeah I wish I knew that. I’m about $200 into the setup I have now. What version Nexiq clone?

    Dearborn adapter woes

I tried the different J1708 and 1939. I think I’ve got a problem with the USB to serial adapter at the moment.

    Dearborn adapter woes

I hadn’t tried the compatibility mode. I’ll query my local tech guru for that. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll see what I can do with that. I really don’t want to buy another laptop for a dang serial port.

    Dearborn adapter woes

Understood…. I have three laptops. None of which have a serial port to include an old engineering laptop. That’s running Win 7 ( never connected to the web) and a newer running Win 11. I do have a MacBook, but would obviously be needing the serial adapter .

    Dearborn adapter woes

Hey all, Ive got one of the Dearborn adapter DPA III Plus units. I’ll put the picture below. But I can’t get it to communicate with a laptop at all. I’ve used two different laptops with different versions of software. Additionally I’ve got two different USB to serial adapters that you need to...

Bad storm breaks everything...Low Power/Engine shutdown

M1078A1 I won’t have a chance to investigate for a few days, but yeah I’m a bit concerned it’s a pump or bearings, or both. Last year I had the same issue with the low oil pressure light coming on at stop lights. I took the chance on a used pump from a school bus. Best case scenario for a 3126...

Bad storm breaks everything...Low Power/Engine shutdown

Morning all, Had a big dump of 20" heavy snow that's killed the power grid here. Internet was out. Cleaning up I blew a hard line on the tractor cleaning up, fought to get the plow on my truck without tractor help (not recommend) and here is where it got interesting. Plowed myself and one...

    Webasto Heater?

Nice! I’m love to install one on my truck. The entry price is kinda steep from what I’ve seen. I suppose a quick way to see if it will heat the cab is to run the unit. Turn truck power on and without starting the engine see if the HVAC fan will heat the cab. If that works then you’d just need...

    Dump hoist and removable bed

I saw this post when I first found the site and read just about every single post here concerning these trucks. This was something I was (for a while) considering for my truck.

    LMTV A1 fast idle ghosting

IPD? It’s not you…. It’s me. IPR… Injection Pressure Regulator I was trying to help with the OP’s issue but I’m steering the thread off track. Sorry for the sidebar.😬

    LMTV A1 fast idle ghosting

I believe the grid heater is working. But I can check it. I wonder if there is a learning curve with the ECM for the new IDP, the old one certainly was not functioning properly. The ECM I’m sure was trying to compensate for it somehow.
