    Various M880 Questions

Negative arch on the front springs is normal for these trucks, as is a bit of sag after 40 years of use. What's the condition of the body mounts? When I got my truck, the two up front were completely gone, which made it look lower in the front. New mounts leveled it out pretty good.

    Various M880 Questions

I have a W200, the 3/4 ton civilian version of the M880. Mine has 6 leaves in the rear springs, like yours. I'm with bikeman; I never liked the underbed spare mount. Hard to access and tend to rust in place. I have my spare mounted in the bed, bolted to the frame rail.

    M880 Electrical Problem?

Here's the link to the website referred to above: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml I did this on my w200 and it made a big difference in the brightness of the headlights. Pretty simple upgrade.

    M880 hot starting problem.

I was having the same problem awhile back with my W200 and it finally just quit going down the road one day. I figured out it was the ignition switch; replaced it and all was good. I don't know why a hot start problem would be caused by a faulty switch. Maybe insufficient voltage? Cured the...

    Alternator Overcharging maybe?

Lots of good info here: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml I did the fix on my 77 and it solved several issues.

    New M880

I run 265/75/16 mud terrain tires on my 1977 W200 with no problems rubbing. The Winterforce tires you looked at should do fine.

    M880 lift

Not spring related, but some of the front end sag on my W-200 was caused by the two rubber body mounts at the front rotting out. They were completely gone; front clip sitting right on the frame. I replaced all the body mount bushings with polyurethane. Noticeable difference.

    880 arived

    The D-200 is 2WD. W-200 is the 4WD.

New M880 owner, what spare electrical parts should I keep in the glove box?

Pretty easy; here's some good instructions. 1970s Dodge truck steering column fix

    318 running poorly -

BTW, my 1977 W200 had the same symptoms and it was the timing too advanced. My manual calls for 10BTDC and that's what I set it at. Took care of everything but the smoke, which is a different issue.

    318 running poorly -

The worst part of timing the 318 is getting to the hold down bolt on the distributor. Pretty much have to have a distributor wrench or fab one of your own. Not designed for accessibility.

    It' not an M880......

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to do anything besides highway cruising without power steering. I don't know what the military was thinking when they spec'd no PS on the 880; one less thing to go wrong maybe.

    It' not an M880......

Thanks, guys. ibhiii, I wasn't really trying to make it authentic since it was a ClubCab, so I left the radio in, didn't add any springs, and, of course, kept the power steering. I just like the military look, and since I'm not a body and paint guy, I figured it would be easier for me to do a...

Thanks. I'm up in the mountains of Pocahontas County.
