Owner prior to the previous owner put about a 6" lift on this truck. I think the leaf springs are aftermarket. Either way, they are flipped up with the arc of the leaf spring sitting below the bushings. The back sits noticeably higher than the front...which I assume is due to a cheap aftermarket...

Thank you for pointing that out! Even though I know there's supposed to be center pin, it didn't even cross my mind to check it... I just assumed that it kept the leaves together, and didn't realize it played a role in maintaining position over the axle.... which now that I'm thinking about it...

Spring bushings are my next item on the list to replace, and once I can afford it will replace the sagging front leaf springs too. Think I'm gonna go with custom leaf springs from ORD... just don't have $1000 to drop right now on something that isn't critical. Plan to do a rear brake and shock...

I did have an alignment done by a backwoods mom/pop shop recently, but to be sure I'm taking it into town today to a place with a machine operated by a qualified individual. I prefer the backwoods most of the time, but will be in the city today anyways and figure after getting everything else...

Problems solved! ...for now *knock on wood* Turns out there were multiple issues leading to my steering/braking problems: replaced the steering gear box with a reman from AAP -> no change whatsoever.... the original gear box was obviously working just fine, so I'm holding on to it just in case...

Dark brown doesn't match perfectly, but I like it better than the original grey dash pad. Fits pretty well, even without a couple retainer clips (2 of the old ones broke while I was installing, thus the bulge you can see over the passenger side dash where those missing clips are supposed to be...

Had the tires balanced a few days ago, and high speed shake improved a little bit... but shop manager said all 4 tires are out of round, so figure residual shake could be from that... but the shake isn't consistent....so thinking it may be something other than tire balance or front end alignment...

I'm looking forward to that day! Don't get me wrong. I love this truck, and really enjoy working on it (just moreso when I'm not racing to put it back together before driving it to work on Monday morning). But I can confidently say that I 100% would not trade it for any other vehicle at this...
