Does anyone know how much the stairs weigh? Any suggestions on how to ship them?

Mine are at a friend’s house in California but I’m in Texas. I want to auction the stairs to get them out of his way.

Kinda depends... Are your stairs aluminum or are they steel?

I think the stairs are too long for a 48 inch pallet. Would be nice if they fit. I’ll ask my friend to measure. I don’t think he can weigh it because he has a neck problem. I’d rather him not lift it. I was hoping a freight company could pick it up at his house.

I expected the weight would be 30 to 40 pounds. I could almost handle it myself and I’m an out of shape, middle aged woman. My husband had no problem and he only weighed about 130 when we had the truck.

Update: I found a similar model on eBay that the seller plans to ship UPS Ground ($143 MN to TX). I’m surprised UPS would handle something that size. I’ll look into their requirements.

YIKES! UPS Ground is $497 per online calculator and some ballpark dimensions (using CA to TX for example). I don’t know how the other seller could ship his so cheap unless it’s just a much smaller boarding ladder. My stairs are roughly 72 long, 28 wide and 7 deep (inches). Won’t fit a pallet.

I think I’ll just list it cheap and let the buyer figure this out. Maybe that one guy who needs it can do a pickup. Something like “buyer to pickup or arrange shipping.” If it’s a fraction of the price, they shouldn’t complain.

Yea the shipping numbers for larger items are crazy. I have a snorkel assembly to sell and shipping is horrendous. Its actually cheaper to send it as 2 pieces/packages...

Call Fastenal. They ship between their stores cheap. No guaranteed delivery date is the catch.
yup I like to use them..... but they do not ship past a dividing line shown on below website. They use too; but stopped doing so around Covid time.

PS- you might be better off to cut them down in a logical place for a welder to rejoin..... so you can put it on one standard pallet.
