NEW TO ME MEP-803A

Good morning, to All.

First and foremost I would like to Thank You all for your forum contribution. It has helped me greatly to aquire, purchase, and work on my 803. All thanks to your vast knowledge .

I need to mount my MEP on a trailer but I don't have room on the side on my house. What trailer would I be able to mount it on.

If its just to move around the house something small that can be moved with lawn mower or equipment. The Military trailers would be too bulky. Here is a thread to give you some ideas. Also what ever you choose just realize its still 1200 pounds of weight and you need good access to the doors for maintenance

Might be that Tractor Supply would have a little trailer - without sides - that you could mount the MEP onto. Like @FarmingSmallKubota mentions, 1200 pounds on tiny tires might make you unhappy. On the other hand if it sits most of the time who cares...

Harbor Fright rinky-rink trailer, if you just want it mobile & don't want to actually tow it all over the place, IMO. Cheap-ish, good enough, and not hard to modify a little if you wanted to.

If you wanted to get sorta fancier, it wouldn't take much of anything to fab a "trailer" out of what's already there. Put a couple pieces of 1x2" tube across the skids, weld spring & shackle hangers to those. Then make something for a tongue... I'm partial to the receiver tube, so you can collapse the tongue in when not moving it.

Also, keep in mind what movement you may see when (not so much if) a tire goes flat. A really narrow trailer with a high center of mass might be an issue if if sags too much due to air loss.
I have yet to make my 802a mobile. It's on the list, but for now it's just via pallet forks on a tractor.

I probably wouldn't, like, stick a pair of 14" tires under the unit so it's only 3' wide, but I think as long as you get the wheels outside the unit & don't go super tall, you're pretty safe.

I, uh, know a guy... yeah, that's it... who may have had a little mishap trying to get his 802 onto its Gorilla cart using a tractor with a really sloppy loader joystick. He tells me it was surprisingly well balanced even with one skid hanging off the edge.

802 works pretty OK on a 1200lb Gorilla cart, BTW. Not ideal, but for $150, it'll do for making it not require MHE. Wouldn't put an 803 on one, though.

If you do put it on a cart, I would consider a few trailer jacks/blocks to be able to put the generator on a solid footing when it runs... vibration is not a friend.
