Depends on the tools you’re using.
Plasma cutter - NO
Circular saw - Carefully without plunging more than 1/4”
Jig saw - NO
IMHO - Use a plunge block on a drill and drill the corners. Then carefully and superficially use your circular saw/angle grinder.
Sparks can cause issues.

This is where one of those DeWalt oscillating tools with a carbide half-circle blade would have come in handy.
Did mine Years ago AFTER I’d dropped the tank to replace filter, seals, hoses, etc. and realized I could have done all that had I already HAD the hatch in place.
REALLY easy to do, just take your time tracing out the pattern, cut on “dotted line” and don’t go any farther under the deck than about 1/2”. Use some rivets to put tabs on four corners (or hinges, or whatever) and seal with tape when done. VERY convenient access.
There’s actually a TM or PM magazine note on how to do this somewhere.

Thanks. I only responded as it was a topic I had direct experience with.
Since moving my HMMWV to Tennessee a little over 2 years ago I’ve gotten into several other hobbies (vinyl LP collecting, building tube amplifiers, rebuilding REVOX reel to reel recorders) and becoming our own contractor as we had to fire the thieving SOB who really took us for every penny he could without doing the job he promised - conveniently for both of us his son screwed up big time and the contract wasn’t valid.
I’ve been going down 10-15 times a year since then (also since the VA has rated me at 100% disability for several issues mostly involving pain management/orthopedic stuff) as I learn finish carpentry, coordinate flooring, drywall, electric, plumbing and doing a little of each myself as well as painting, and SO much more.
We had JUST passed our electrical final a month ago for a certificate of occupancy when my wife back here in Maryland broke her leg. One of our shepherds ran into her while playing in the snow and I came back the next dayt as she sustained a bicondylar tibial plateau fracture (without vascular injury although there was a high index of suspicion as first) and between the three of us and ortho decided to NOT go to surgery. Today, a month out, both fragments are in good position, bone decalcification isi taking place as is a little callus, she’ll start doing some weight-bearing this week, maybe PT in a month.
I’m heading down again in 3 weeks to build a RAMP to the deck (we HAD planned on stairs, but I may need the ramp too in future as I’m putting off a knee replacement until we’re settled), try and connect the well pump to the electric (just turned on two months ago on the far side of the farm by the big garage) - I haul a few hundred gallons at a time to the house from a neighbor’s well and let gravity drain it through a 100 foot hose into a holding tank in the basement which feeds our boost pump - it’ll be one less chore once everything’s automated but it’s nice knowing how to do the “primitive” off-grid living thing (solar goes in this spring, I hope).
I start up the truck every time I go down, run it for an hour. Change the oil every 6 months (I still have about 100 gallons on hand bought back when you could get 5 gallons of Shell for like $50 at tractor supply), filters once a year, take it for a spin maybe every other trip down.
There is SO much more to do on the house though I find myself feeling guilty just “playing with my truck” and since having my service dog put down a year ago (Hudson Shepherd) for Canine Myelodysplasia (like ALS in humans), I don’t really have a riding buddy anymore so truck sits in the garage most of the time on a trickle charger.
We HAD planned on putting our house here in Maryland on the market Feb 1 - but God (and Dog) had other plans.
At this rate, we hope to be in TN by April-May, PRAY the market doesn’t collapse with all the dead weight leaving government; we’re about 15 miles north of the White House here - prime real estate, but so is everywhere else this close in…

You may want to look into the fact that motor oil has a shelf life.
It is generally considered that under ideal storage conditions conventional oil has a 5 year shelf life, a full synthetic 7 years or so.

this is how mine looked before putting down strips of 1” Gorilla super 100 mph tape (“duct” tape).
Actually used it once to take a look while troubleshooting a wonky fuel gauge.
It’s one of those mods you don’t know you need or wish you HAD done until you do.
II’d replaced/changed out gaskets/hoses/sender and cleaned out the tank/replaced pickup screen (man what a pain THAT was) so getting this done was easier at the time.
Had I OWNED a DeWalt oscillating tool at the time the kerf would’ve been thinner; coulda, woulda, shoulda but this was what, 5 years ago?

I’m slowly but surely transitioning from iOS and OS-X to Android and LINUX… possibly an UP-phone this year.
Apple happily scrambled several hundred gigabytes of very carefully managed music files mixing album covers, lyrics/metadata from the 1930’s with those out of 2010’s and worse; between several visits to the Apple genius bar and many hours online with Apple’s tech geniuses, their solution, basically, was to start over. Start. Over.
All because of ONE of their OS updates. And no, the proper sequencing and pairings could NOT be done from “Time Machine.”
Reloading and recreating folders and data on nearly 30,000 song titles (I listen to a LOT of Jazz as well as more modern stuff like Viking, post-rock GIAA, Eno, Stephen Wilson and more) having already taken many many years of my time, leisure, has now become a holy chore as I slowly but surely remove all things Apple from my life.
Don’t even ask me about Windows OS. And Tidal, Qobuz or other online music sources? Really hit or miss whether they have the same music I do; the rights to songs/albums still aren’t completely bought up from families, trusts, archival sources.
I have a local backup drive as well as online, several thousand LPs and as many CDs (plus Reel to Reel) and I guess, one more hobby to take me far into my dotage.
