Hi ALL. I have to replace my steering column on my 1984 CUCV. I think I can get it out OK? but I'm wondering what parts I should replace when putting it into my other CUCV.
Oh is there any gotchas I need to know about when doing this?
I've searched for some videos but not finding exactly what I'm looking for.

Not sure what you'd need. If everything works in the one you're taking out, it'll work in the one you're putting it in. If you haven't taken a column apart, do it with the old one first just so you can mess it up and learn. I replace the turn signal switches in mine when I have them out since it's easier than when it's in the truck. I have a bunch of nos ones that I got years ago. I think there's some out there still in the box too. You can lube the bearings or replace them if need be. There's not much to a straight column, very simple. I'm swapping another tilt column in the other 1009 now. It is very nice having that. One thing that's a pain is I have to rewire the wipers since they dont make a non delay wiper switch for a tilt column that I can find. It still works on one speed though lol.

Hi thanks. the only reason I'm doing this is because the plastic turn signal piece that the turn signal lever goes into is broke. I can't find it so I'm removing the whole column on one of my old ones. Any idea where I can get the little plastic piece the turn signal lever goes into or maybe a part number?

I believe the post from @WWRD99 holding the box (above) from Delco shows the part number.

Did the wiper switch arm just pop off? It just pulls out there's not much that holds it in place but friction. If the lever just flops around then there's a screw to a bracket that probably worked loose and needs tightened...thats pretty common. Just pop the wheel off and see if it's just a few turns loose.

The wiper portion still works but the turn signal lever is flopping around and the turn signals do not work. . I was told by the mechanic the turn signal lever goes into a small plastic piece and that's what's broke?
