Help with horn

My horn has quit working and I know the issue is in the "ring" on my steering wheel.

My issue is I'm scared to death to pull the horn button off without some kind of direction as I know I'll end up breaking it beyond repair.

Does anyone have either directions for fixing the ground or can type out what I need to do? I *really* don't want to go the "push button on the dash" route.

Most if not all horn buttons release by way of "push down and twist". I would give that a shot first. Under the pressure of the palm of your hand. You can generally feel it let go. Watch out for the spring under the button...

The horn works off the button on the steering wheel grounding the wire. Warning! You could have 24 volts live there in your lap. 24V hurts.

There is a wire connecting the metal sides of the rag joint down at the steering box. Checking that and the wire running through the column would be next if the contacts you are currently looking at are ok.

Copy on the hurting. I'll kill the batteries and break out the trusty OHM meter to check it.

The horn is fed 24V to one terminal on same, the other goes to the horn button switch, looking for a ground to complete the circuit .

Worst to happen, it will honk. Won't hurt anyone...

I have seen the column wire twisted in two from a million turns over the years.
