Just curious, with all the R1's and new models out there now, I wonder how many of these tubs are being reused and if there was any correlation to tub numbers and any order when rebuilding or if they just pointed at yard with a wrecker and said go get me one. Might be fun to track just tub numbers and year it belongs to. I dont care about the sn as there is extensive research and a few threads here already dedicated to vins. I guess my brain is broken but I always found it interesting to find consecutive vin/sn numbers in unusaul place, as I drive a truck and watch for DOT numbers near mine or vin numbers on trucks near mine as those are post in plain sight, might as well carry that over to the green iron addiction.

(11/89) 70235 doesnt match vin but within a few hundered

Body number never matched the vin's.....
Its a factory use number.
i had read on somewhere that the tubs were matched to vins in 85-87, but i havent compared on those years to verify, my 89 was close though

the body number is a mfg assy line tracking number nothing more, nothing less. While at the factory, there is no way to track otherwise, the assignment of Registration and serial numbers isn’t done till after production.
